Now then Buddy all is well here hope you're doing fine :-)

Yep the connectors on both modules are horizontal my 5,9 or 16 turn antennas will connect direct fit :-)

you just need to check the distance between the connectors for the diversity to ensure you can get the Omni on as well as the helical you can see in the pic the shortest distance between the connector and the end of the reflector is 16mm

I can send you one out to try if you like  If you find its not for you just send it back and cover the postage no problem

Cheers

Hello Tommy
i'm a proud owner of your antenna tracker. I use it with a skywalker plane which is equipped with a TX 600mw from eachine. With this equipment  i can reach around 3 to 4 km range.

So now the tracker is equipped with a 9 turn antennas ,i'm wondering what could be the range if i equip the tracker with your 16 turn antenna ?
Have you some ideas...

Cheers,Sito

Hi Sito,

Glad you are enjoying the tracker :-)

If it's only reaching 3/4km before degrading using that transmit power then I would suspect something is not quite right maybe the environment, noise floor, transmission etc  could be a number of things  including the tracking system

I posted a few video links in this thread of a customer's long range flights where he reached 32km with the 16 turn helical's fitted, he then switched the antennas out for the 9 turn at 14km on the return leg with good picture, although this was probably perfect conditions at that moment in time, it just shows what the system is capable of reaching when all is well, but everyone will get varied results
If nothing else was changed just the antennas to 16 turn then In my opinion from the results your getting at the minute I would expect 7ish km
I will post the best way to set up the tracker in the next post to achieve the best results

A good way for a quick test is to lock the tracker up to a friends 5.8 model with a confirmed range and see how she goes, then take it from there

Hope this helps if you have more questions just let me know and I will try to help :-)

Cheers

Hi All,

just a quick note anyone using the system the best way to set her up is by following the 4 steps below hope this helps :-)

Important please follow the 4 rules below carefully for best results

1 Select your channel

2 Go to advanced and calibrate (with VTX off)

3 Press run on the tracker and turn on your VTX

4 Put your hand over the VTX antenna to detune the signal and walk around the tracker to check the lock/video feed before taking off and you are good to go

NOTE If you do not know what channel you are on and want to use the scan function on the tracker please ensure you are at least 20 meters away with your VTX to guarantee the correct channel is found, any closer and it could select a ghost channel. Once you know your channel turn off your VTX and rerun the above 4 steps

You only need to recalibrate if you change antennas or channel, If you go to an untested environment I would also run the calibration just to be on the safe side

Cheers

I too , use an Eachine 600mw (TS832) vtx and with tommyd's 16t helical I flew 12.2 kms recently and can fly to 10kms virtually every time .
However, as he says -it can depend on your circumstances, noise floor, environmental conditions etc-etc.
I fly in a very rural location but not flat and lots of water ;)

Hi Tommy. Just a quick post to say the diversity unit arrived promptly. As per your instructions, installation and calibration was simple and the whole job took less than 30 minutes to complete (and that included finding the Dremel and removing the old mounts). The best news though is that the unit has performed brilliantly from day 1. Gone are the problems when flying overhead, video signal is now 100%. The tracker has always been a great bit of kit and represented good value for money but the addition of the diversity until has really elevated it to a new level in my opinion. Keep up the good work and development.

Cheers again
