Voyager E....Electric Helicopter by JR


So, after a bit of re-wiring, fiddling, cleaning and an ESC change for a proper Helicopter one, it's ready for a test flight now.

 Had to remove the old NiCad.....Yes, Nicad battery clips to make way for a Lipo pack.

 This is an old, but quality JR product, surprised, but spares are still available from Midland Heli.

 It still needs a bit of TLC on the feathering spindle rubbers and Blade holder bearings, but Im hoping to get a few test flights in tomorrow. Fortunately, my mate is well into electric Helis and has provided a dedicated ESC and some setup knowledge.
 CPPM Collective Pitch....It's why my old Spectrum DX7 is in it and not my Taranis.

  If it flies ok, Im going to put the Firefly HD Camera on it, fitted with a Heading Lock Tail giro means it will stay pointed all on its own...lol....

Good luck - video needed of course.

I do find all heli's inherently frightening.  Just like a couple of samurai swords rotating at 20,000rpm

 Hi Wayne,

 Yes, they can be a little intimidating. I used to fly Helis quite a bit years ago, going electric makes them a bit more predictable though. Oddly enough, I can fly a Heli easier than I can a Quad.
  The Heading Lock Tail giro makes life very easy though, although I have never used one myself, just a normal one.

  If Im having the Firefly on it, Im going to have to do some serious balancing, but I will see how she flies first. Potentially, it's a Jello machine in waiting.....LOL.
