I'm thinking of going for a similar configuration to the TBS Caipirhana and having the Rx and VTx mounted on the wings.. Might be a bit ambitious but I am sure I'll find a way to crap it all in and I've got a nice rig for cutting holes and cavities into foam :D

It's definitely possible, I reckon I could easily build one with a full AP if I were to do it again. But the type of plane it is doesn't really lend itself to having an AP/Stabiliser on board.

It's more for the OSD, Home Position and potentially RTH if I needed to recover: works out an awful lot cheaper than me buying the GPS for a TBS Core Pro. The cost of a FC, GPS, Current Sensor is around 50 and the TBS GPS 75 aha.

I reckon it'll be in manual mode most the time :) Also if it all goes well I'll put the same kit into a bigger wing for 'range testing' aha

I put an AP in my Falcon as insurance too. I never user stabilised or anything like that, I fly manual all the time... but I like having RTH for the odd occasion where I push it a bit too far and lose video signal. Oh and occasionally I use loiter for a break  :)

Hey Blue.
I noticed you soldered the motor wires directly to the ESC without bullets.
Did you shorten the motor wires? If so, how did you re-tin the remaining wire?
I just did mine and had a devil of a job re-tinning the enamelled motor wires - what's the trick?

I tried that and it seemed to sort of work, but not as easily as in that video.
After I tried that, I used a gas soldering iron set to silly hot, and the combination of the two did the trick, but it was a struggle.

Are you using the same motor? I didn't have any issues tinning my motor wires after cutting off the bullets

Yes. The same one from the HK ME163.
I cut them down very short and was left with about 8 strands in each of the 3 phases, with very tough enamel covering that was a real begger to remove. Cut down well below the original tinning.
Managed eventually, but was not fun !

I've seen somewhere that you can apparently use asprin to treat the enamel wire to make it easier to tin.

Then let it cool down for a several seconds and remove the brittle (like a colophony) melted aspirine's rests away from naked and tinned enameled wire's tip... Do not breath in the aspirine smoke.

Cheers Blue, the Aspirin thing sort-of worked.
But I wasn't sure all of the strands were tinned nicely, so I attacked it with a REALLY hot gas iron, and that removed the remains of the varnish and gave me a nice shiny joint.
Happy days now.
