Runcam HD lens.
« on: May 08, 2017, 11:32:53 PM »

Any good ways of polishing out scuffing and general marks? Toothpaste or some other mild abrasive maybe? A lens replacement is 20 but I'd prefer to put that towards a runcam 3 (If gopro don't stop them from being sold in the uk :hammershead: ).

I've never had any luck with either Mobius or Runcam2 lenses, once they are marked it's just time to replace, the plastic is too soft and removing any plastic just distorts the image. Bite the bullet and get another lense, it's a 5min job and it's as good as new, I focus mine at 2 mtrs and it works for me.

I think I might just do that. I like the older rectangular form factor.

Ps. Yesterday I went down to the spot you suggested with a few packs. One day I'll have roam down to the river. The trees should make for some fun obstacles.

I like the Runcam HD and Runcam2/Mobius, great for quads and wings, less drag.
Went down to that spot Sunday, had a blast, really big loops and high spiral dives. All didn't go as planned and have a major rebuild of the Vortex to do, hit a tree from 300 mtr dive and she didn't pull out in time lol. Will post the vid as the Runcam abandoned ship and lived to fly again  :D

I'm honestly surprised I haven't lost or permanently damaged mine. Think i'm gonna nickname it "lucky".

The worst I had to deal with yesterday was landing in some nettles near the hedge. Those bails make a good makeshift table but play havoc with my quads signal. I should be free the weekend after next If you can get rebuilt.

Yep no prob's, the Vortex should have new PCBs by then and if not I will use the Spanky 250 Mk1, she not got all the whistles and bells of the Vortex but if it hit that tree it would have just up-rooted it and flown back to the launch point with it in tow lol.
That bottom field has a 2 week old Runcam2 in it from last year if you can find it, came off the Mini Talon :wallbash:

This is what happened to my little 250, nasty tree just jumped me hehehehehe

That tree must have been going at least 50mph! Haha. I'll keep my eye out for your camera. I've got heavy duty Velcro and a strap holding mine and it still manages to escape. I'll have to grab some better batteries. 45c leaves a bit to be desired.

Running 1500mah 4s Graphene 65C, bit heavy but I'm not a racer and just like a bit of punch, jury is still out on them as I've not put a season on them yet, working well so far.

Tis the tallest thing around and I hit it ;D, think it was the trip down the tree that killed my boards, all part of the fun of it.
Epicurus1 what are you flying?

I've got a Holybro shuriken 250. Bit heavy and wants every amp you can throw at it. To keep the amp draw down i've been using two bladed BN props instead of three. When you give it throttle it screams like a cat being castrated.

Now that's a proper quad, try a Graphene pack, they put a sixth gear on ya quad, feel a race or two coming on this summer 😜

Ok  :opps:
On topic, not sure if the Runcam HD has a black protection ring for the lens as yours in the pic hasn't, the Runcam2 does and has saved my lens a few times. I would have thought they were pence from China if you didn't mind waiting a while, just a thought.
