Finally have a quanum venture
« on: May 11, 2017, 12:49:32 AM »

Hi all it's been a while since I was on here last but thought I would stick my head back in as I have just bought a quanum venture from hobbyking, and have been playing and moding even before the maiden flight. I bought the naza m lite deluxe package as it was cheaper than the motor and speed controller package and have been reading up on all the different suggestions to resolve the yaw issues they seemed have. With that in mind I decided to try and minimise the possible causes by modding the nose cone and upper body shell halves adding extra ventilation for cooling and improving the aero dynamics as I know a lot of people seem to run with the front half of the shell off which I think is a shame as it looks cool with it on.

shame you had to cut it up before you fly it. but sometimes that's the fun bit. look's cool, very military looking, good luck with the rest of the build.

I wasn't a lover of the little fins on the nose cone anyway and the extra airflow should help make sure things stay a little cooler so chopping bits first was the best way as I can configure the balance and cg before testing and I am stuck waiting for a prop balancer anyways lol

Nice I am liking the front facing spots you have fitted, are you running fpv on it also what 23rd are you using as I have the r8x with the pcb antenna and am wondering about the best way to mount them

It is FPV but I've since changed the camera to a Möbius and the RX is on 459Mhz EzUHF,the head lights are from Maplin they are 6V camping LED lights powered simply from the RX 5V rail. The red and Blue LED's are also from Maplin but are 12V so are plug and play with a 3Cell Lipo which is what I'm using. I'm not sure what you mean by 23rd? by the way the cut out for the Blue cockpit LEDs also seem to have eliminated the yaw issue associated with this copter by allowing air to pass through the wire mesh which I bought from my local motor-tech car spares and repairs shop.

Lol sorry 23rd is a typo and should have been rx, I have finished the body mods now and from what you say about the air flow on yours I should be ok with the yaw issues (fingers crossed) as you can see she has had a little paint job and a move of the antennas, still waiting on my prop balancer as the one I had ordered arrived and was not a du-bro true spin as advertised it was a cheap copy that is rubbish.
