SpecWing: Scratch Build
« on: November 10, 2017, 12:34:53 PM »

I've been attempting a series of build videos for this. It's a small 900mm wingspan flying wing, specs from IbCrazy for one of their race series. This is built from insulation board from B&Q, about 2's worth so won't break your budget  :)

I'm far from an expert builder so you can follow my build, cock ups and swearing in the videos..

One thing I haven't done at this point is a guide on the hot wire cutting. That said there are many vids out there already and Andrew Newton does some very good ones.

Any feedback on if you like them or if I should stick to crashing in to trees is appreciated..

Just watched the first one ... looking good.

You might like to try PU adhesive, that won't melt foam, I use stuff from Toolstation and its cheaper than Gorilla glue :)

https://www.toolstation.com/shop/Adhesives+%26+Sealants/d180/Wood+Adhesive+%26+PVA/sd3198/5+Minute+Polyurethane+Wood+Adhesive+Gel/p78519

Nearly forgot - it does foam up a little so put some tape over the joints!

I don't like to use glue that foams up for joining wings. My concern would be it will push them apart and not form a good bond. Youn could try taping them together while it sets but it's whether the tape would hold them together..

By gum ..  :wtf: yours must be super powerful glue to push the wings apart. Had no problems myself  :) :)

Have you seen how much gorilla glue foams 😀 Seriously though it needs to be clamped tight to make the best bond, with Gorilla glue anyway.
