Sbus testing
« on: February 12, 2018, 11:34:36 AM »

Is there any way to test the Sbus output of a receiver without connecting it to a flight controller?

I have an X8R bound to a QX7 and fitted to a ViFly R220 M2. When I plug it into Betaflight I see no stick movement.
The quad is known working, Ive seen it fly. The TX is known working, Ive flown with it. The RX is brand new so SHOULD be ok but its the only thing I cant test as I don't have flight controller that's not fitted to a quad to test it with, hence my question above.

Ive tried all available Uarts and its definitely set to use an Sbus receiver.

Any ideas?

First thing I would try, is to plug some servos into it and test to see if it really is bound like you think it is....especially if you are running LBT Firmware.

All set up as per Vifly instructions and confirmed with vifly themselves. Ive also sent them pics of the wiring....heard nothing from them since :(
I have tried the other uarts as suggested by Vifly support.

Might be completely wrong here but on my F4 board I had to solder the Sbus jumper pin to get it working with iNav

On my Omnibus F4 board, which is a V1 type, BOTH jumpers are already on the board.

Specifically, both PPM and SBUS jumpers are present....(unlike the FC in the above video)

So, if you want to use SBUS, you need do nothing at all, but if you want to use PPM, you will have to prize off the SBUS jumper.
This I would suggest, is because most users are using SBUS systems, unlike the EZUHF RX which uses old fashioned PPM for example, but you can make either type work.

Trouble is, its not a full size board. It looks like a custom one as it joins the rest of the electronics with a single ribbon cable.
I can only see one side of it as its stuck to the bottom plate but there don't appear to be jumpers on it.

If you are using a Frsky reciever, the SBUS is inverted, so I would check it can handle the inverted signal...?
