Dodgy camera?
« on: March 22, 2018, 05:37:17 PM »

So I donít get to fly my wing often anymore, and the last time I used it, it was fine.
The other week I got a chance to fly on Mount Kenya (video to follow soon) and to begin with all was well. But during the flight the camera started to play up, so much so I was nearly forced to land los..... luckily the camera came back for just long enough for a fast landing. Below is a clip of the dvr footage, I can only assume itís the camera that is knackered as the osd stays on.

Yeah you can see the OSD is clear and untorn so it won't be the VVtx or OSD so that leave camera failure.

Low voltage to the camera? I've had similar bizarre colours just before voltage got too low and the camera died.

I was thinking heat first then low voltage. Or just complete failure.

The process of elimination would be plug in a new battery. Voltage high, temp low, no pic = Goosed camera

So Iíve had it on the bench today, absolutely no problems.... hate it when this happens.

Temps on the flying day were low, 8 degs or so.
I need to check where the camera gets itís voltage from, I canít remember if itís battery voltage or on a regulator. Either way the battery never really got low and the fault would appear regardless of throttle position. It would even do it in a glide.

Yeah it sure did. I had hoped that bench testing would show up a similar fault once it had warmed up, no luck

heh!

8 Deg is cold compared to what Iím used too!!

Bin it! It's not worth the unreliability as l9ng as a replacement is a practical option where you are :)

Oh itís definitely going in the bin, I just wish it failed on the bench as Iíll always have a niggling doubt as I never got to the bottom of it.
