Panasonic protected cells??
« on: April 13, 2018, 11:43:26 AM »

Just got 3 of these through the post here in NZ and see they are protected ones. Pretty annoying since they weren't advertised as such >:(
Can I still use them to make up a 3s pack or will it cause issues?
Thanks for looking ;)

shouldn't be a problem!

your protected cells are 'safer' but have a slightly smaller capacity as a trade-off...

"Unprotected batteries do not electronic circuits in the cell packaging. Because of this, they can have more capacity and current capability than a protected cell. However, there is always a danger of over heating, short circuiting, or over discharging. Unprotected batteries are also much lower in price."

Thanks for replying.
Righto, I'll make a 3s pack with them and see how they work out.
They cost about 7 each here which is way cheaper than Lipos would you believe! :)

You could remove the protection carefully if you want to. Its just one pcb with flat connector to the other pole. You can also see it through the shrink tube.
