FXT Technology....Viper Goggles Test + Tiny Seven
« on: June 07, 2018, 05:31:31 PM »

Viper Box Goggle from FXT Technology....Testing.

Testing using my Tiny 7 Quad and some suitable compact reading glasses.
I can wear them with my normal, larger glasses, but they are easier to put the goggle on and off using these. For the money, Im pleased with these goggles TBH, I can focus easily on the screen and see the OSD. The DVR does a reasonable job capturing the video, but disappointed it doesn't capture the Audio stream. Opens up the possibilities for learning to fly my Quads now, so happy to have a Goggle I can use. DVR Playback is also easy using the dedicated single button.

Apologies for the poor data rate, U-Tube has degraded an already low data rate clip.

Looks good. Might have inspired me to get my Tiny7 out flying in the garden.  :D
Goggles look good for box goggles especially as you can use as monitor or goggles.

  Hi Ched,

Yes, it's a nice Monitor / DVR with Diversity....You can buy this Monitor on its own direct from FXT, and then it comes with a built on Foldable sunshade and a standard screw on Tripod Mounting point.
Its features are very good and easy to use, I just wish the DVR captured the audio stream. The Goggle is brilliant.

The lack of audio is a bit of a shame but certainly for most not a deal breaker.

How heavy do they feel on your head ?

 Hi Ian,
Yes, no audio, its okay though because I have fitted my tiny HMDVR-S to the Martian 2 and this means no breakup ever...lol. The 5 Inch Monitor is really lightweight, so they are pretty easy and comfy to wear. I have a 3S 18650 cell to power it and this is on the rear of the Headband. You need this little bit of weight as it helps keep the headband in place.
Having used them a while now, Im of the opinion the Monitor only has one receiver in it so the duel antennas are a bit of a disappointment as it's not true Diversity. That said, they seem to work okay for me and my venture into Quad flying which is why I got them. Glad I did, Im having a lot of fun discovering Quads and what they can do. The goggles are also a first for me..:)
