Antenna: http://www.firstpersonview.co.uk/antennas/5.8ghz/immersionrc-5.8ghz-antenna-set-2-antennas
Battery: 4S 3000mAh Turnigy 40-50C

Ready to fly weight: 1.68kg

The build was straightforward, although Quaternium don't have any instructions but there is plenty of advise on RCGroups http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1657512. I did use some aluminium motor mounts as the original G10 mounts looked flimsy and they topped Quarternium's list of best sellers, that was a clue. The layout was pretty standard with all the noisy bits up front and the FRSky RC receiver under the battery tray at the back with the RC antennas sticking out as far as possible. The Naza GPS antenna is on top and takes some time to acquire more than 6 satellites but my garden is surrounded by buildings and trees so I will have to wait for more testing before being convinced it is a good location.

Lessons learned from my previous quad: I chose motors with soft flexible leads soldered to the motor windings inside the motors, I soldered all motor connections, eliminating all bullet connectors except the flight battery. I located the vtx antenna pointing down so the quad needed short landing legs made from carbon tube. I supported the motor wires and connections using self-bonding insulating tape. Hopefully this will improve reliability.

Flight testing in the garden has shown that the quad is smooth with the motors being particularly quiet. The camera gimbal uses a single servo for tilt with pitch stabilisation being provided by the Naza. I fitted a Hitec HS55 but this has too much slop in the gears so the image has some jitter although no jello on 1080p. The vibration isolation system works well, this is based on the balance beam principle with the GoPro and flight battery on a separate frame being isolated from the rest of the frame by soft foam mounts.

So far so good but more to come from finding a good gimbal servo. I have just ordered a digital Savox servo http://www.servoshop.co.uk/index.php?pid=SH0257MG as recommended on another thread.

Video to follow once the rain stops.
