Im specing up a 250 quad build. Going to use ZMR 250 frame I think, and Naze 32 flight controller, but what motors and ESC?

What are you using?

Preferably UK stock but not essential.

I remember Badlands was running his little hex on 4s, but cant seem to find any motors rated for 4s. Do they exist? Will be starting on 3s but always nice to be able to use more power if needed.

Any link to stuff you use/need will be appreciated.

Thanks.

Dave

Sorry about the crap pic but this is my fully custom 250 fitted with Maytech motors and T-mount carbon props. It had a Q-Brain in this pic but has since gone on a diet and now has a Maytech 4-in-1 instead along with a few other weight reductions.

Motors, props and and ESCs available in my shop ;)
They wont run 4s but to be honest Ive never felt they are under powered.

I'm using the cheapo RCX motors on my ZMR 250 (http://www.myrcmart.com/rcx-1804-2400kv-micro-outrunner-brushless-motor-clockwise-p-6281.html) although there's much more choice in motor now, although they seem ok to me.

Those motors on badlands hex weren't rated for 4s, but seemed to survive without getting hot.  They were tiny as well.  You might want to pm him to find out what they are.

Ratty

Thank you both.

I thought I remembered him saying they weren't rated for 4s, but was not sure. Ill drop him a message.

There are just so many to choose from now, and they are all cheap, its hard to figure out if they are any good.  :D

Loopdreams sent me a link to this a couple of days ago on an earlier thread. Favourite Sky 3 Quattro 4 x 12A Brushless Quadcopter ESC 2-4S 1A BEC BLHeli = $27.95

Ordered one from HKing primarily because it will make the wiring very neat and you can remove the case if you want to save a bit more weight.
When the windsock's in shreds, stick to your beds. (spoken in a Cornish fisherman's accent).

Dave

I wouldnt recommend removing the case from a 4-in-1.
The top (metal) half acts as a heat sink.

Aany good links to a list of required components for a cheap 250 racer??

I fancy a dabble but it would need to be cheap and cheerful because I'm not 100% certain I'd like it. If i do i'll build a "proper" one but if not then I don't want to be left massively out of pocket.

iPeel

I use the DYS BE1806-13 2300kv motors and Plush 10amp ESCs flashed with blheli.

The motors aren't in the UK warehouse though, but I'm really happy with them.

Ratty

Thank you all. Im going to place my order next week so ill spend the weekend going through everything.  :D

P.S.
If you want info, just have a peek at the ZMR frame thread on RCG
fastest moving thread of my life so far, something to read every 5 minutes :p

You'll get lost in the beginning, but it will all make sense in a few days' time :)
There is some mini-quad gold in there my friend, all you need do is search/ask :)
