Runcam Split Mini for my Babyhawk R.  Seen a couple of videos on this mod and it seems very successful.  I love that little quad but the lack of HD footage is always a bit of a bummer.

Couple of receivers for the Wasp kits and a module case to house the transmitter end of my Bluetooth linked headtracker (no more pesky wires).

Not had many quads in to review in the last month (none in fact).  But just like buses, today 3 arrived all at once.  3 different sizes as well.

First is the King Kong Tiny7x.  I've got the 7 which uses 7mm brushed motors, the 7x uses 8mm brushed motors.  I want to see if it feels like it's got more power, or it's just heavier.  I must point out that the box is lovely.  Separate opening sections for the quad, accessories, and the battery charger is part of the box.  Cool

Moving up a size if the Space Wolf 140, a 3" machine which already has an XM+ in it and a Runcam Micro Swift (IIRC).

Lastly, the big boy is the Furibee X215 Pro S.  I flew the regular X215 Pro a while ago, and it's was excellent out of the box (just needed the camera mounting tightening up) the 'S' adds a build in HD recording camera which I guess is a little liek the RunCam split, but will see.  Fingers crossed.  Yes, it really is that shade of green !

You lucky man. Looking forward to watching all 3 reviews. Maybe you could even do a separate one on the HD recorder cam if it's available separately?

ched, the HD recording thingy only seems available as the entire stack https://www.gearbest.com/flight-controller/pp_1106470.html which is a bit weird, as you'd think that people might want that.

I flew it on Monday (in the heat) it does ok.  Much like the RunCam split, there's a compromise in terms of your live image, but the recorded footage looks ok.  Need to check it out in more detail, it's on the editing queue :)

Today, I got this in the post.  Torvol make some interesting Drone backpacks.  This one is actually designed for imaging quads, like phantoms and I didn't think I'd be able to use it.  By Torvol mocked up an image of my massive Quanum x470 frame folded up in there so I thought I'd give it a try.

It's fairly massive.  Just that bottom section is big enough to hold a Phantom and 6 of it's batteries !

It would be good as an add on but for a complete stack with 35A esc and FC all for £70 it does seem cheap when you consider the RunCam Split V2 is about £60 on it's own!!!
That reminds me I must get a new cable and try and get my RunCam Split V1 up and running.

I quite often get comments on YouTube asking me what I do to my goggles so I can see - as it's fairly obvious that I wear glasses.  Luckily for me, my prescription is pretty close to the -6 Fatshark diopter set.  But I've always lacked any knowledge of what to tell someone who is long sighted, or has a more complex prescription, so decided to try and get in some custom lenses to test them out.

The first arrived today, to my prescription - which includes an astigmatism part, and are from a German company called RHO-lens.  I'm going to take them out and test them in my FatSharks soon.  So far I've held them up to my eyes and can see... which is a good sign to begin with I guess !

Iíve been using these for about 6 months, in fact they are so good I ordered a second pair for the standby goggles. Interesting that the script is for 7 meters.

Interesting - it would be nice to have some "proper" ones ... In my case I ordered the official Fatshark diopter set but they didn't work for me because I too have a specific prescription. When I got some newer style glasses I repurposed my old lenses and carefully dremelled them to size using the real diopters as a template. They work brilliantly but they're not 100% the correct depth so they sometimes move slightly out of position if I'm not careful handling the goggles.

Arriving yesterday was this new tracking device from PinpointRC.  Everytime I think I've made a video about every half-decent finding device out there, someone pipes up about some other one.

So, first thing you might notice about this, is that it's quite chunky.  I don't think it's really a mini-quad thing - sure you could use it, but it seems a bit overkill unless you are going away some distances.  To me it feels like it'll be more at home in a larger quad or plane.

So a few quite interesting things about this - first thing to say that it's not cheap, at $185 (although I'm not clear if that's Canadian or US) but that essentially gets you a GPS device with some sort of sim that works anywhere in the world and you don't have to pay for (aside from that initial cost)

The other good thing (although I need to test this more) is that once on, it constantly transmits data - so rather than you have to text it to find out where it is, it constantly updates it position and you can track it via an app where pinpoint issue you with a username and password

Some things are a bit unclear, I'll know more when I test it properly.  I'll go and hide it in the woods a few km from our house and see if my daughter can find it using the app

Just got a little package through from MenaceRC containing their new Pico patch antenna.  It's tiny, even when compared to their existing small patched like the Invader and Bandicoot.

Looking forward to going out and flying with it... or indeed anything for that matter.  I've been held up finishing off some writing work for the past week or so, so have missed all the nice weather.  Cue the rain as I eventually get some time to fly outside.

A few things in over the last few days.  3 VTX's from AKK, this includes the 2 versions of their FX2 "ultimate" which goes up to 1.2W.  Also known as the "how to alienate anyone you fly with".  It also runs at 25mw as well, so it's all good.

tbeacon - I don't know if anyone else has come across, but it's another tracker - a lot of setup options on this one, but it blasts out a 433 pulse that can contain your GPS coordinates - so you need a handheld 433 radio to help you, or you can use you handheld as a proximity finder.  Anyway, lots to find out about that one, and they also sent an as yet unreleased beeper called the buzzybo.  Which is kind of a cross between the dronekeeper and hellgate buzzer.

My first FatShark goggles Attitude V4 Anniversary Edition

I was really excited about these and to be honest I'm a little disappointed. I flew two models with different cameras and on both I was really struggling to get the light balance right. It was either too light or too dark. My previous goggles were the Eachine Goggles 2 (Box goggles) which were really good just massive to carry around all the time. I also have the Eachine  EV100 goggles which to be honest have been pretty good too. I think the Attitude v4 has better colour and I can really notice a step up in screen size too. I'm not sure I'd like to go any larger, not for quadcopters anyway. One of my reasons for going down the FatShark route rather than Aomway was that I can add a diversity module in the future. I'm also not overly impressed with the module that comes with this and have now lost diversity which seems like a bit of a backwards step.

Anyway the main reason for getting them was because they were on a deal and were the cheapest I've seen any fatsharks (even second hand on ebay)

Anyone know what this button does (circled)? I thought it was to switch the fan off but it doesn't
