RTH Issues??

I'm trying the Bangood 64 F2s FC out in the ASW -28 glider and still having imperfect RTH operation.
It was better this last time but doesn't seem to hold altitude and I noticed it loses satellite contact ?
Anyone have any polite ;D suggestions please? :)

  The altitude reading is all over the place?...Is it using a Baro?...Or a 3D GPS fix?

  I know iNAV doesn't use a Compass either, not needed on a Fixed Wing....Your Sat count is also low?...If Hermans hands aint movin, who is flying the plane then?

  Biggest problem looked to be the altitude reading jumping around all over the place. Where is your GPS Puck?....far away from your VTX I hope?

The Mobius is fitted under the fuse below the puck but I tried with it turned off and still had satellite issues.

Hi m8,

  I dont think you will get any sense out of it until you have a better GPS fix. When it was diving in RTH I think it was trying to get down to 100mtrs, but the altitude wasn't responding, in fact it was going up, not down?
 That GPS puck looks like the one on my Storm, it only gets a few Sats....You could try putting a small thin sheet metal ground plane directly under the puck to improve reception perhaps. Basically, a small thin metal plate with an earth on it about 10mm bigger than your GPS puck all round. I think it's down to a lack of reliable Sat lock myself. My Storm behaves in a similar manner when the Sat lock is sketchy. Take care not to short out the Puck.
  RTH is a function of GPS, and not having control override during RTH is normal behaviour I would have thought.  It may be that the actual Sat number is worse than what is showing in the OSD...?
  I doubt your 5.8G vtx is having an adverse affect on your GPS receiver myself, especially as it's not too close either.

I had a bad time getting a GPS fix with my Cyclops Storm GPS receiver mounted inside the fuse on my ASW28.
I have since moved it out onto the wing and it works fine.
