SkyRC D100 or ISDT Q6 or T8
« on: January 04, 2018, 01:12:42 AM »

Happy New Year all, first post so please be gentle as we all know we start somewhere.

Iím in the UK and joined here as most forums cater for the drone of the USofA, having read and researched posts, forums and watched YouTube videos, now in a quandary regarding a LIPO charger I have narrowed it down to a couple these being the SkyRC D100 v2, and either a ISDT Q6 or T8, however have heard more on reliability regarding the ISDTís than the SkyRC.

What is everyoneís views on either the ISDT or the SkyRC, Iím looking at Parallel Charging about 8 x 4S 35c at once.

Or can you recommend another charger (batteries will be charged at home initially) however the facility to charge in the field would be good too.

Many thanks and appreciate any info.

4s x 35c doesnít give the capacity only the rated max output. For example If you are parallel charging 8 x 4s x 3000 mah lipo packs at 1C you would be looking for a charge rate of 24 amps. (8x3=24). So the capacity of your packs is important to get some sensible advice. Also you are going to need a power supply that can deliver.

Having done the serious large electric powered competition model scene where huge volume lipo packs are used, I can tell you that these chargers are the mutts nuts and used by 90% of the pit crews around the competition circuit. http://www.matthias-schulze-elektronik.de/old_schulze_gmbh_homepage/index_uk.htm.

Hereís another cheaper alternative http://4-max.co.uk/gt-x4-pro-quad-4x100w-charger.html

Many thanks for the reply and taking the time to do so, however looking at my post and my apologies in advance the LiPoís Iím looking at charging are 4S 14.8V 1300mAh 75C XT60.

Again advice again is appreciated.

I donít mind purchasing a server power supply if the option open up as Iíll be putting all in a box holding all parts.

You will still need a charger that can give a 10.4 amp charge for 8 packs at once, so better to give some headroom and go for something that can give 15 to 20 amps continues. In my experience the more you pay for a charger the better condition the packs stay in and the better the charge. Depends how serious you want to get I suppose. Plenty of folks get by with cloned iMax. Just remember that LiPo packs are to be treated with huge respect, they ďusuallyĒ only go up in flames when actually being used or when damaged. So either charging or discharging are the high risk activities.

Thank you BigT for the advice and links provided, Iím a firm believer too of you get what you pay for, the next option was the SkyRC Q200 Quatrro 4 Channel 200W AC Balance Charger, however the link provided seems like a beast and if used by guys in the pits and speaking for experience seems like the one to go for, I think saving up a few more pennies certainly after Christmas are in order.

Cheers again.
