Skywalker 1800mm 6s

Hi all. Looking for some advise. I have a Skywalker 2014 1800mm that has been sat in the attic for years. I have some 6s 12000mah batteries that are not been used so was thinking...Ö.about doing a 6s setup on it. Looking for suggestions on motor, prop, esc, etc

I should think the starting point will be the max diameter prop you can get on. Decide between 2 or 3 blade then go for a coarse pitch and work back from there. Basically big prop, coarse pitch low KV motor will give the most efficiency. You will need to watch the amp draw at full beans and put a big ESC on it. Thatís a mighty big payload to get flying from a hand launch though.

  My Skywalker 1900 needs a 4S 10,000mah Lipo to make it balance correctly.  Easily has enough wing area to carry it though.

 I always make it do a ROG Takeoff though, its a big bird to hand launch, people do though.

  6S sounds rather OTT to me, should still work though. Pick your ESC / Prop carefully. Either that or limit the throttle opening.

 Mine gets of the floor like a scalded cat TBH....Scary power using a Graupner Prop.

Cheers guys.  I know it massive over kill, but it will be interesting to see what its like.  My 1900mm flys well on 4s 10,000.  With having these batteries kicking about just been thinking up a project for them.  Will let you know how it goes.

It'll fly fine - the Skywalker 1900 can EASILY carry 4s 10,000 and a GoPro inside a case on the front, no problem at all. It'll manage the bigger pack with ease.

Hereís another analogy of efficiency. Think of a human powered plane such as the one Guy Martin flew in the TV documentary. Large prop, huge pitch,  turning slowly. I think the prop was variable pitch that worked with a gear train so fine pitch to get going, coarse to cruise.
Steve itís an 1800 but should still manage the weight as long as he doesnít try and fly too slow.
