What do you think about my build list?
« on: August 08, 2018, 01:20:17 PM »

Hey guys,

So this is my build list, any thoughts/suggestions?

I've gone for Endurance motors as I want to get a decent flight time, so suggestions on battery would be welcomed bearing this in mind!

Component    Description
Frame            GEPRC Mark 2
Motors           TBS Endurance 2206 1450Kv
PDB                   Brainfpv Radix PB
FC               Brainfpv Radix RC
ESC                   Brainfpv  4-in-1 ESC
Camera           RunCam Swift 2
Video Vtx           TBS Unify Pro
Receiver            TBS Crossfire Nano Rx
Props            tbc (suggestions!?)
Battery           tbc (suggestions!?)

When you say 'GEPRC Mark 2' I assume by the other components it would be using 7" props? Would you be using 4 cell lipo or more?
Is there a specific reason for using Brainfpv kit? Not really seen it used much.

There are better cameras than the Swift 2 out now.

What sort of flying are you intending, ie acrobatics, photography etc?

Hey!

Yeah I'm looking at 7" props,  4s. The brain Fpv gear is very well reviewed and I like the fact the PDB,  ESC and FC can be stacked, and it has an osd built in.

I want to use the copter to explore with some mild acrobatics, but nothing crazy.

What FPV camera would you suggest?

FPV cams are a bit difficult. There are basically 2 types CCD and CMOS. Traditionally CCD have been way better but CMOS has caught up and maybe overtaken.
The thing is these little cameras used to be adapted from security cameras that are static. We use them on quads that are fast so they might be pointing into the sun one second and in shadow the next. So they need to be able to cope with light changes, this is what WDR (Wide Dynamic Range) is all about. You want to be able to face the sun and not for the picture to just turn white!!!

Anyway have a read here and maybe checkout some youtube comparisons.
https://www.fpvknowitall.com/ultimate-fpv-shopping-list-fpv/#fpv-cameras
or
https://oscarliang.com/top-5-best-fpv-camera-mini-quad/

I use a Swift Micro V2 with a 2.3mm lens and I find it's good but I have had it over a year which is a long time in quads so there is probably something better out there.
One thing that I have just done is buy a RunCam camera control module for about 4 from HobbyRC. This enables me to adjust the camera via the FC OSD (BetaFight). This is great as if it's very sunny or dull I can quickly adjust to get best image. Some newer cameras come with a tx/rx interface to connect to a uart on the FC.

Just had a quick check on the motors/props and seem like they were designed for 4S. So looks good.
Looking at your suggested stack (FC, PDB, ESC) I assume it will fit inside the GEPRC Mark 2? It looks like some of the internal space is occupied by the arms and the stack frame? So don't just rely on the standoff height to guess if your stack will fit!!!

I am sure you already know but the lower the weight the longer flight time. So try and save every gram you can.

Hope the above helps. Any more questions just ask.
