EZ UHF 8ch to 12
« on: September 09, 2018, 09:08:37 AM »

Have an 8CH Lite uhf Rx and JR module TX on a Horus. Using all outputs On Rx running servos and need to use additional channels on sppm output to Vector for RSSI and Link. Connecting Rx to pc to use the immersion tool to access menu. I can read TX out putting 12 channels and Rx set to 8ch output, but not able to change to 12 on the ppm stream. The additional channels to allocate remain greyed out. Any help appreciated.

Are you saying you have the SPPM stream output on channel 1....and then 7 servos plugged into the remaining servo output pins?

I use the 4 channel EZ receiver and usually set the sppm stream to 12 channels. Channel # 8 being reserved for Link Quality instead of RSSI, choose one or the other, but not both. Set the frame rate to 28ms in the Horus for 12 Ch use.

You could set the main (4) flight channels 1 thru 4 as SPPM (Include Ch#8 for Link).
Then use the remaining pinouts to drive servos directly from the RX.

I rather depends on how many servo output pins the Vector has..?

Check the RX Firmware version is higher than V1.4

Hi, yes SPPM  stream set to CH1 direct to Vector running 4 flight servos and 2 mode switches. RX channels 7 and 8 have pan and tilt servos plugged in direct. On the dreaded u tube I see it is possible to stream 12 channels from Rx CH1 pin and allocate RSSI to Vector OSD. Currently the receiver is only out putting 8 on CH1 and don,t seem able to set it to 12 as you have done with the 4 Ch version Rx. I need to check FW version. Hope this makes sense to you!

Yes,  Check the Firmware revision first...you may also have to update the TX Module to match it if you do an update to the RX.

Yes, 4 main flight controls, plus "Link Quality" on channel 8....plus 2 flight Mode switches.....All on SPPM stream.

Pan and Tilt servos plugged direct into the RX.....Should be possible.

Been using EZUHF in my Taranis for a few years now, always worked 100% for me...Touchwood...lol.

Use a Dipole on your receiver for best results.

OK, appreciated. Being dreading up dating kit. Have two receivers in different planes, luckily the TX module and Receivers were all running the same software when delivered. Can you recommend where to get dipole from and which one please. I am using the Diamond antenna on Tx. So far getting far enough for me as a novice, about 2 miles with low TX power and good RSSI till I lost it connecting 2 additional servos. One other thing please, when Reading the Transmitter assignment via PC there are 16 boxes appear with blue bars to the left of centre and empty boxes to the right which you can type in and send to TX. Too scared to experiment with this one! Like to know what itís all about.

Don't fear updating your EZUHF gear, just ensure you have matching Firmware in TX and RX. I use the Diamond SR771 on my TX and only fly using Low power.
You can easily convert a Sanders antenna by soldering a ground wire on it which is the same length as the active element, thus converting it to a Dipole. Even if you dont get it exactly right, it will be an improvement.

Not sure what you mean about blue bars..?...Horus related maybe?

Thanks again. Got to set up some stuff tomorrow and will take a screen shot of what i mean about the EZ Tx module settings. Need to know!

Hi. Put some screen shots  of  EZ Tx module via immersion tool reading data, mystery to me so don,t want to experiment!  Different subject.... watch Bonafidepirate on Tube and you were mentioned Re: Rudder/Aileron coupling on Skywalker. I have two of these  1750 and 1900 Wing. Noticed how well they turn when rudder/aileron used as opposed bank n yank. I fly with stabiliser on nearly all the time including take off and landing. Is coupling as easy as just using a Y lead after the Vector twix rudder and ailerons?

 Hi m8,
Oh, I use the small JR Bay TX Module, not sure about the bigger external Modules. I think they are very similar though. Basically, you just need to have matching Firmware in both RX and TX.
I use the 433 to 450mhz band and extreme hopping for maximum range and safety. Not the fixed 459mhz uk band.

Yes, the Pirate was flying his 1900 Skywalker with a Storm onboard, which does not control the Rudder at all. Since he was (predictably) having problems getting this big lumbering bird to turn nicely in GPS Modes.
I suggested he simply hooked the Ailerons and the Rudder together on a Y lead, thus giving a constant mix of both controls.
This means mechanically limiting the Rudder movement to like 6mm each way with full Aileron throw, resulting in nice coordinated turns. My Skywalker 1900 is the same, adverse yaws horribly unless you give it rudder and aileron together.
If you are using the Vector, I dont think it will be a problem in GPS Modes as it will use Rudder and Ailerons together?
He did like my ridiculously simple solution and it worked like a charm for him...lol.
