F405 Wing with Arduplane - servo/channel setup??
« on: October 27, 2018, 07:53:33 PM »

I have loaded arduplane onto a F405 Wing f/c and got that all configured, but I cannot fathom out what to do about about swapping/mapping my channels around.

I'm using my qx7, AETR on channels 1,2,3 & 4 and these all show fine in the mission planner calibration screen.

I'm going to stick it in a wing, so only need channels 1,2 & 3 and will do the mixing in arduplane as usual. The F405 uses channel 1 for throttle and then channels 3 upwards are for servo outputs. I cannot for the life of me fathom out what I need to remap or whatever to get this working. I want my esc on output 1 and my servos on 3 & 4.

Argh!

A few beers and a curry later and I have it sussed. I ended up remapping the channels on the Taranis and then again in Arduplane to basically be TREA, or was it TRAE ?

I think I'd need a lot more beer before iNav.

I must admit after having a look at iNav I do like the look of it, might give it a go :)

 Hi Ian,

Having used both, its a no brainer, iNAV is a LOT easier.
Arduplane is more complex and capable, the problem is it has far too much in it that the average user is never going to use.

Some useful CLI codes in iNAV for most setups, including the excellent Autolaunch Mode...:

set max_angle_inclination_rll = 600
set max_angle_inclination_pit = 600
set small_angle = 180
set failsafe_throttle_low_delay = 0

set rssi_Max = 79.....(UHF only)

@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

LAUNCH MODE DEFAULTS:

set nav_fw_launch_velocity = 300
set nav_fw_launch_accel = 1500
set nav_fw_launch_max_angle = 30
set nav_fw_launch_detect_time = 10
set nav_fw_launch_thr = 1800
set nav_fw_launch_idle_thr = 1000
set nav_fw_launch_motor_delay = 100
set nav_fw_launch_spinup_time = 50
set nav_fw_launch_min_time = 0
set nav_fw_launch_timeout = 15000
set nav_fw_launch_max_altitude = 0
set nav_fw_launch_climb_angle = 18

Enjoy...:)

Your welcome, the Autolaunch has worked flawlessly for me every time.  You may want to adjust the timeout value and the power level, but those parameters should just work as they are. Switch Autolaunch active before Arming the FC.

I just save these vital CLI lines as a text file, and then copy and paste them in, knowing they will pretty much work first time.
I can now set up a FC in a matter of minutes. Ensure you pick the correct Firmware for your version of the board and dont enable the Barometer for FW if you have one.

Mmmm .eerrrr.I used Ardupilot for my very first build.A dead cat frame around 500mm with an APM.It was a baptism of fire took months too get the bleeder flying.Hours of google and youtube. My Matek F405wing has Inav installed, much easier if memory serves me right than ardupilot(the 1st quad was over 3 years ago)so experience may reduce the set up time.I am also guilty of frequenting the Shitebook RC groups.Mentioned I was running Inav on the MT on the Talon group and 90% of respondance was ditch Inav go to Arduplane.
Must admit I'm in a 50/50 state of making the switch.
Is it worth re learning all the half forgotten farting around in Ardupilot.Or stick with Inav?

Ardupilot....For those keen on wading through endless Multi=Rotor nonsense whilst trying to set up a simple Fixed Wing.

iNAV is now rather polished TBH....you just have to learn how to use it and read the Wiki.
