1500mah 4S
« on: November 25, 2018, 05:24:13 PM »

Are 1500mah 4S the lipo of choice for freestyle mini quads or do people try larger or maybe smaller ?

I use to fly on 1300 but longer flight times would be nice.

From what I read 1500mAh 4S is normal for Freestyle as the extra weight also gives a bit more momentum in flips and rolls. I think people do use 1300mAh as well, I don't think it's too critical really.

My flying is not good enough yet for freestyle but I am slowly getting there  :D

6s great for freestyle, and if want to be lighter can choose the Ovonic 1000 6s

1500 4s seems to be the norm for 5" quads now - mostly since the motor size kept increasing, and in some way to help stop the voltage sag in small lipos.  Some people are also onto 1800's.  I've still got 9 or 10 1300 mAh lipos, so they all get used.  I'm pretty used to any flight being around 3 minutes though

As Ive now got an amount of quads that is verging on the ridiculous, I use different batteries for different weights/sizes of quad. Most of mine are between 180mm and 280mm for freestyle as that's the size I get on with best.

So, for the lightest, which is actually the largest, I use 1800mAh. For the others its all about trying to find the balance of weight/size/mAh. On average I fly more 1500mAh than anything else.
