Anyone got an XM+ recently (question on active element lengths)
« on: November 30, 2018, 08:58:35 AM »

I just got a new quad to test from HobbyMate and noticed that the visible active element on the included FrSky XM+ looked a little short.

It looks like the active element is just 12mm long (approx) but I do notice that there's a further 11mm where the covering looks different - like perhaps this is just heat shrink covering instead of the proper shielding in the rest of the cable.  This would give a 23mm active element which FrSky have been using on XM+'s recently.

I just wanted to sanity check this against anyone else that may have got XM+'s lately.

Looks like heatshrink to neatened it up. But best check after FRSky's recent antenna faux pas

  Hi Wayne,

The correct measurement is 23mm, this is what mine all are and this includes the one I fly out to 3.6kms with loads left on the clock.
I guess the heatshrink is there to offer some stiffening and protection, not a bad idea on a "short" range quad.
