New radio for small hands? - Jumper T12 Plus?
« on: January 21, 2019, 06:35:56 PM »

I started 'playing' with quads about 3 years ago and as normal I was on a budget so I bought a FlySky i6. I have installed the modded FW and I do like the small size as I have small hands.

I think the gimbals are now failing. I can just replace the gimbals for about 6 each but I was wondering if it's about time to get a new radio as it's probably easier to get 'the budget' to replace a 'broken' thing than it is to upgrade. That said I have 4 quads with FlySky rx.

I noticed that there is a 'Jumper T12 plus' transmitter for about 80 with hall effect gimbals and a multi protocol JR module that runs OpenTX. It's actually smaller than the i6, I think and would work with my FlySky rx and allow me to use Frsky in future.

So has anyone used the Jumper type radios and if so are they happy with them?

Alternatively anyone suggest a small radio that takes modules?

Cheers for suggestions.

Yeah, Id say its a safe bet, I was looking at one myself only the other day ( I have a Taranis so can't justify buying one) thinking its a bit of a steal since it runs Open TX and has a JR Bay too.

The key ingredients for me is the fact it runs Open TX and has the Bay too....It's a no brainer, especially with the Hall Stick units.
Especially when you look at the price of a Taranis X9D these days...

I was thinking that as it has the JR bay, OpenTX and hall effect gimbals it might be a good idea as then I don't need to spend more on 4 new rx plus I can use any rx in the future.
I was thinking about a Qx7 but then I need 4 new rx. So the price goes up. That plus it's a fair bit bigger that my i6.

Agreed....Some of our Club Members have bought into Radio Link....Its very easy to use with a fancy colour screen but the firmware running the radio is hacked with poor resolution on centring and now they are all developing the same fault with the rotary selector not counting Up and down...This renders the TX pretty useless for parameter setting.
You can't buy spares either and their website looks like a 4 year old did it...lol.

Do not buy Radio Link whatever you do....its shit, I have been inside one...and it costs more..

I like the look of the FrSky X-Lite transmitter myself

https://www.quadcopters.co.uk/frsky-taranis-radios/frsky-taranis-x-lite-24ghz-transmitter
I did think about that but when you add 40 for 4 rx and then the batteries and an adapter or charger it doesn't half add up. Plus I am not sure about the shape, I have never been a gamer so the shape will be a bit weird for me.
Thanks for the suggestion.

Cheers for the tip, I was not aware of RadioLink or their reputation!
There are advantages to belonging to a club in that you have people with similar interests. So you get to find out things in general chats. Forums are great but you have to search for the right thing to get the info. Unfortunately the only club near me that does multis is quite a distance and quite expensive. So I really do appreciate the help and advice on here.
Thanks.

After FPVSteve suggestion of the FrSky X-Lite, I remembered the Turnigy Evolution was only 26 on HK. OK so it hasn't got hall effect gimbals and only does FlySky 2A, but for 31 delivered it's worth a go.
It should arrive tomorrow.  :D
Cheers
