GPS Puck question
« on: January 30, 2019, 09:42:47 AM »

Can someone help here please?
I've got three F2s flight controllers in different planes and managed to crash all three over the last 3 months and on each occasion I couldn't find the GPS pucks that had shot off into the unknown \0/
These pucks only have 3 wires to them and all I can find on BG or Aliexpress are one's with 4 wires.
Is it possible to use one and disregard one wire?
The one's I lost were M8N's .
I've tried contacting the F2s seller's but they don't seem too keen to reply.
No doubt it's more trouble than it's worth to sell me that item on it's own hey :'(
Thanks :)

Don't know much about the GPS they use, but GPS receivers are pretty much the same at least regarding wiring.

Im guessing they are only using the TX wire to talk to their FC. Most GPS units have a 3.30Volt linear regulator in them, so if the output from the FC is a measured 5 vdc, dont worry.
Do you have a photo of the original GPS Puck?

You only actually need 3 wires for a gps to work, it needs its power, ground and the transmit wire so the OSD can receive the GPS data. So all that matters then is if your firmware supports NMEA or UBLOX or both

I think some of the M8N have compasses in as well, so they will have extra wires.
