How to connect dvr to fr632 receiver
« on: February 17, 2019, 09:13:11 PM »

Hi guys,
I wondered if you fpv gurus could guide me how to connect a dvr to my fr 632 which is on a quanum  headset .
I have capacity to house a separate battery if required or pull off a 2200 mah battery Iím currently using to power screen receiver etc
I assume either a HMDVR from HK
or Eachine orange Dvr
Unless anyone has a better option
Many thanks in advance

Wiring wise you just need to split the diversity output video signal.

A simple RCA split cable like this one is fine, cut one of the male connectors off and solder to the DVR video in and ground. Them power it from the same lipo that powers the headset.

Sorry just re read and tried to take that in( Iím not overly savvie with this stuff) so you plug into av out 1 on the receiver plug into your cable of which one male end has been cut off and split and soldered onto video in and ground and the other male end to positive off battery ? Apologise if Iím being a bit dull itís been a while since Iíve had the wings out 😁

Hiya, no problem.

No that cable above is for video only, you plug one male end of the new cable into the yellow female coming from the fr 632 receiver. then the female end goes to your quantum headset. That leaves a spare male on the new cable free, you can cut that connector off and take the two wires to your DVR.

The power is a separate thing altogether.

If say you were going to use the Eachine ProDVR or the HMDVR then they both run on a 5v supply, so you could use the 2200 lipo, but only if you used it with a 5V bec or buck converter.

You could add the buck converter to your receivers power cable and then the 5v wires to your DVR. This will need soldering and setting up of the buck converts output though.

How experienced are you with wiring / soldering ?

Not too bad with wiring and soldering itís making sure I get the right wire in the right place that normally presents the problem 😂
Many thanks for your lengthy reply, it makes it a lot more sense !
