This one was been on the bench for while! thought I'd share it as it's a nice frame.

-- Components used --

> Hobbywing 2205 2300kv motor with a custom 3D printed motor mount
> Hobbywing XRotor micro 30A ESC (my favourite ESC)
> HQ 6x4.5 Prop
> Nano EzUHF with a Dragonlink MMCX dipole
> Full size Eagle Tree Vector with current sensor
> Diatone 2A/3A mini BEC
> Stock servos
> ImmersionRC VTx (1.3/2.4/5.8 swappable) with antenna cable extension
> Flytron microphone
> Foxeer Predator V1 (flight cam on the nose)
> Runcam 2 (on the back) with a custom 3D mount

Battery options: Li-ion 18650 Sony VTC6 ~3000mah (30A max draw) either in 3S [150g] or 4S [200g] configuration. Li-Ion choice was to get 15-20min of flight time.

AUW with 4S and the Runcam 2 is 810g. 3S with no Runcam 2 is 700g.

-- Build notes --

> I decided early on that I did not want to use the stock bell-type motor - I have a perception that they're vibration prone and less efficient than 'modern' 22xx quad motor; that led to the development of the custom 3D printed motor mount.
> I kept the stock servos as they sound all right.
> Replaced the stock control rods with M2 threaded ones - stock rods are super bendy
> Replaced the control horns with a thicker plastic one - except for the elevator as it hold the CF strip on the control surface
> Moved elevator servo horn to middle hole - stock is on the furthest out.
> Opened a hatch on the motor pod and installed ESC on it
> Used same hatch (plus some foam surgery) to install the nano EzUHF on the back of the motor pod.
> Designed and printed a Runcam 2 holder to go on top of the motor pod; adds a nice view I plus I need the weight on the back to hit CG with the 4S pack.
> Added an antenna cable extension to the VTx so everything stays inside the plane and is accessible/swappable.

-- What I would change if I had to do it again --

> I would not replace the control horns - they seem to be of good quality; but I would apply some extra CA for comfort
> I would use a Matek F405 (Arduplane/INav) or F411 (INav only) flight controller rather than the Vector - that would make the wiring a lot easier and I suspect would save me an estimated ~40-60g of weight.

-- CG --

> Currently at factory recommendation - 10mm behind step - how good is this for those who have this bird?

Let me know your thoughts about the build!

Salt water maiden coming up soon, will apply CorrosionX profusely! Will it survive?

It looks good, like the mod list, pretty much what I would change, it should be a blast to fly.

Good luck with the salt water ( I wouldn't dare :) )
Education and schoolin is good, but FPV is gooder :)

Hi Charles,
Wow! what a beauty-way too nice to chuck in the salty stuff ;)
I flew mine regularly outside my house in Scotland on the Atlantic and have to say it has quite an affect on the whole thing.
I still fly off saltwater but am reluctant to invest too much in the equipment.
They are very easily capsized IF the water's choppy and you have a side wind situation as in this vid.
They don't weathercock to windward like a float plane so be careful.
You need rudder authority in the water which requires a flip down extension such as a guitar pick or similar. Without it you'll struggle to steer it in a reasonable wind.
Can you not maiden it on one of the lakes around there or even at Greenham where there are some good ponds.
Best of luck mate and I'm sure you'll be producing some amazing video's as per ;D
