It went better than well! 509km...  316mph.. Beat the 441kmh electric record, and beat my own 502kmh jet record. It is (unofficially) the fastest FPV plane in the world!! So outrageously happy, I can't put it into words!! It's been a long road...

Fantastic stuff Rupert, that's really awesome.

How hot was the motor when she came back down then?

Very, very hot, but it didn't smell! Should be good for some more runs. Battery wasn't too bad either, landed at 40% which is a nice safe spot with a few go-arounds. The next mission will be to get some low altitude footage.. it's going to be a pretty massive thrill!

Hey guys! Waiting on some better weather to have another flight with the 14s. We will be trying to get lower down to get a good doppler recording and also to fly between 2 cameras to do a time calculation to check the speed. Will be looking for a day with much lower humidity as this could potentially make a big difference. The last flight was just about the worst conditions for speed.. so it may do better than 509kmh next time.

Jet engine is still with the manufacturer being repaired.. so that project is on hold..

I have a new project in mind now.. and have started having discussions with a top motor builder, to have a crack at 700kmh.. Why not! It would be the fastest electric plane of any sort so far if it is possible.

Roughly, the power system would be 28s 300a, in a plane with approx 1.2m wingspan. I will need outside funding or sponsorship to help this project, it will be too much alone. ESC in the range of 1000 -1800 on it's own..So probably going to start some sort of crowdfund or something to see if I can get the project going.

Will probably do a video to explain once I have narrowed the ideas down to a design.

Nice! I'll put a few pennies in the pot for sure if that's what you need, looking forward to hearing more.

... does your good lady know about this yet? lol

I just watched the LetsDroneOut podcast you were on, and I had a question - however, I was playing it back after the live stream so I'll put it here:

Would having the prop up front help at all? Wouldn't it a) bite better into the clean air, and b) chuck out less noise?
