Had a chance to look at this today.  As far as the window vs the task bar goes that does seem to be the norm.  If the window extends where the taskbar is then the taskbar wins.  If you set it to run at full screen (in the options) then you shouldn't see this.

As far the building goes, it it this one.  So looks normal from this side

But when you go over to the over side it seems to have a wall missing and then what was solid on the other side no looks transparent.

I have not noticed that before.  It's a free building model, so I'll have to ask the creator if he can close off his geometry for me :)

As far as cars crashing into trees, is this on the small circuit with the cars on fast?  I've spent hours and hours following those cars - at one point they used to hit the trees quite often, but I tailed off some of the speed and gave them a nicer turning circle.  I've still not seen this though, but if you can comfirm the circuit/speed then I'll run it through to see if I can get it to recreate.  Does it happen fairly often - once every x laps ?

The windows task bar isn't an issue, I was just mentioning it as it's a Windows thing not a Mac thing  :D
I hadn't noticed the building  :D

As for the car crashing it was set to fast on the fig8 track, I think. Not 100% of track but it was on fast speed.
It's not an issue really just thought I would mention it. Not really sure it's a bug just an effect of high power, slippy surface and cars bumping each other. I do love the way they are on the knife edge of grip especially over the bumps  :D It adds a great bit of uncertainty when chasing the cars.

It's a great sim. I just need to work out gravity and throttle settings to match my quads.

Josh did a video with Patrick 'Mockingbird' Clarke a couple of days ago and during the vid they are talking about brushed vs brushless and I think he suggested that brushed have a much more linear response than brushless! So that suggests that brushless have a non linear torque curve. Looking at miniQuadBench the 'curve' seems to be there but not that pronounced.

Ooops, I'd got it into my head it was you that mentioned this.  I'll have to trawl back through the comments/emails to find out who it was :D

Another release - I was hoping to get planes flying around to chase in this release, but I wasn't happy with the results, so that's getting rewritten.  In the meantime, there's a bunch of things that should help the beginner out.

I like the new settings menu, makes it nice and easy. I wonder if somehow there could be a main menu that leads to the settings, car chase etc. Then you could have a menu button say in the top corner?
One thing I noticed is that if you set custom rates then go into the 'A' menu and say change quad power your rates are reset to one of the defaults. Maybe that menu could be where you select 'custom' rates and set them there along with camera angle?
Well done for all your hard work, it's looking great.

Nothing is particularly finalised in this sim.  I try and go with certain aspects to be made accessible in-game rather than from the main menu.  As this expands though it will probably change, and at some point, you might start in the main menu rather than just being dumped in a quad on a landing mat.

The guy making from 3d models for me has completed a wind turbine, so I've added a little wind farm now.  Plenty of opportunities to fly into the spinning blades of death :D

Looking fun.
One think that I like is that your sim runs ok on low quality graphics on my i3 8gb laptop. Please don't make it too processor intensive. I have no idea if more moving objects needs more processing power?
I do love chasing cars especially when they are unpredictable, wind turbines sounds fun and can't wait for the plane  :D

I think it'll be ok.  We go with deliberately lower poly models, and I've kept the trees pretty sparse, but I do have to rely on people telling me if it slows down as I upgraded my Mac quite significantly for Xmas.

I'm aiming to position the new stuff that will eventually (hopefully) form a building site over the other side of the map.  It should mean that the existing geometry on the other side of the map is hidden by the hill, and culled so effectively it should all still run at the same speed even with extra buildings etc.

Sounds great, thanks. I will let you know if it slows down but good so far. Cheers

There's a new version out today, and I finally got my AI plane to fly as I wanted it to.  Here's the usual video

As I mentioned, the plane model actually flies via normal radio inputs, the AI portion just generates the inputs for it, so I will be having the plane as a flyable option in a later version - which may appeal to some of you guys a bit more than quads.
