This has to be the most ridiculous thing i have ever heard! who the f##k do the caa think they are? as if they have any f######g jurisdiction in our own homes / property....
impossible to police...so what's the point...a huge thank you for the lobbying work by our representatives if this comes to fruition...
what a joke.
Just because Bruce says something doesnt make it accurate.

The other day I was visiting a public viewpoint and noticed it had a sign banning drones, with  a graphic of a quadcopter. As I was contemplating what the reaction would be to my camera equipped Twinstar, a woman walked past with her partner and commented "stupid drones". Unable to resist I commented that drones were actually quite intelligent but the stupidity lay with the irresponsible oprrators. On finding out that i was a drone flyer she actually apologised and agreed with me.
It rather made me wonder how successful the CAAs drone education scheme, which all who register help to pay for, is going to be. All I can see so far is banning and not education.

Well, mud sticks - they (the media) have done a very good job of painting drones out to be the enemy and now it doesn't matter what we or the CAA do going forwards .. people who don't understand something usually automatically default to disliking it, especially if other people are telling them that its bad.

Changing that mindset now it's in place is going to be very difficult, especially if they don't care about flying drones ... they'll dismiss it, as the woman in your example did. I wonder if she's ever even seen a drone flying...

On the flipside, when peoples' minds are open it seems that they see drones and FPV very positively. I remember flying with the Doncaster lot near Humber Bridge a few years ago and we were met by a group of people out for a walk, one of whom was an ex-RAF rear-gunner in Lancaster bombers. Not only did he think it was fantastic that we were flying the aircraft, being able to SEE from the aircraft via the goggles blew his mind. As it should do!!

Ive not flown since last year, all my stuff is in boxes packed away.
I'm back to doing rc cars and really enjoying it.
I'll see what the summer brings regarding getting the drones and fpv stuff out and registering.

in my experience people that speak out always achieve more than those that stay silent, so id much rather have someone that some consider a gobshite than a bunch of people saying nothing, then grumbling in a corner when everything goes tits up.
social conditioning makes most people fearful of speaking their minds when placed in front of regulatory meetings... hence why they achieve sweet F.A.

I'm already banned from some newspapers for my political views, i've had youtube mess with my channel. one of the reasons why sky news shut down their comments section is because we used their own platform in 2016 to turn the Brexit debate towards leave. Dont get me started on numpties paying their tv licence. The Chinese get their BS for free, you lot pay for yours :+

good for you! thats the spirit, much like Bruce, though its fair to say I never mentioned TV licensing, so have zero intention of getting you started on that.

I spent 6 years fighting corrupt regulatory reform, was constantly the only person in 'the room' speaking out, be it in a room with 10 people to a hall with a 1000. I achieved everything I set out to, saved quite a few jobs, stopped my colleagues from inadvertently breaking the law due to a planned and twisted 'trap', much fun...not.

shame our representatives have let the big boys ruin this hobby eh?

Thanks for posting the link.
I wonder how much money has been wasted and are they giving the member of the exempt organisations a refund?
Oh lets hope the same think happens in June!

It's quite a bizarre sequence of events really, I can't understand the logic behind it. If they were going to do this, why not just do it before the deadline - why all the fuss and nonsense. Because now they're going to get grief from people wanting refunds (they paid for a year after all, not six months) and people who didn't want to be on a list at all, but were going to be criminalised if they didn't do as they were told.

Ridiculous - whoever is in charge of this stuff at the CAA needs to be answering some questions.

Could be to do with 1/7/2020 when the EASA rules come in to effect and 'Article 16 Specific permissions granted to the national associations' could be implemented. Perhaps there's been some behind the scenes negotiations.

Still doesn't answer the question about why they've waited til now, it's not like that particular clause has magically appeared overnight.
