Having a read up on iNav and GPS. I can't seem to find out if it requires baro and a compass as well as gps to enable RTH.
The problem is the quad I am intending to fit it on doesn't have enough uarts to have one for gps and another for compass (SDA and SLC) and it doesn't have baro. It's very low on UARTS. I could remap to get a softserial but I would lose the buzzer.
I only really want RTH, I don't need position or altitude hold etc.

Cheers for any help you can provide.

Mag goes to the SDA & SLC pads, not to a UART.  I believe iNav will get ALT data from wherever it can - ie it will take just GPS ALT if that's all there is.  I'm sure RTH would work, but GPS ALT is horribly inaccurate, so I wouldn't expect it to land itself very nicely.  :o

thanks, interesting.  what VTx/VRx are you using?

The VTX is quite small and is 200mw, but recently its proven difficult to obtain another from China. RMRC haven't got any stock either for ages now...:(
My Video receiver is a Lawmate, you pay a little more but unlike the Partom vrx, it has its own SAW filters built in from factory. The DVR on the GS is an old HK one, a step up from the usual Eachine one and even the Runcam DVR.
These, and LC filters on the quad add up to clean video and endless range.
Not a great photo, but the 200mw vtx can be seen in the photo below...

Yes, you must have a Mag in your GPS...Not sure about the Baro, if you intend letting the quad land itself, a Baro is supposed to help, although if you watch the video, mine is all over the place, and its never zero, even when you take off..
Pretty sure RTH will work fine without a Baro, not so sure about the landing sequence, although if you watch, none of the landings are bad, despite the Baro altitude being bollocks...:)

Cheers for that. For some reason there is not that much iNav GPS info out there. I don't think this prospective quad will be getting iNav as it doesn't have enough ports :( Maybe put a small just gps on with BetaFlight just for info  :D

I have been great info as I will build a 7" with iNav and gps at some point  :D :D

Thanks for the info.

doesn't it have SDA & SCL pads?  you need a UART for the GPS obviously, but you just need SDA & SCL for the Mag, not a second UART.  what FC is it?

I didn't think it looked bad - I would have expected GPS ALT  to be out by at least 20m most of the time.   :D

measuring height via a barometer in the middle of a load of prop-wash is never going to be spot on, but still a load better than GPS.  I'm not sure what the DJI quads use for landing - the same as for collision avoidance I suppose, although I'm not sure what that is.

Not that I can see. It's a HGLRC F4 Zeus AIO board on the HGLRC Sector132. It have very limited connections as it seems to be built for a specific purpose of making a very light (sub250) sort of cinewhoop.
It's really for round our small garden as I'm still in lockdown. I do have the mobula6  but a little wind and it gets blown all over the place. I can 'justify' 'another quad' as it's mainly for flying in the garden and the ducts mean that is OK  :D
I was going for a 3" Cinewhoop like the Reptile Cloud 149 but reviews of the big ducted ones say they are very noisy. Not a great idea to annoy the neighbors.

GPS was just an idea as the Sector132 isn't for speed so iNav seemed a nice way to go.

Oh well I will just wait for a 7" build  :D :D

Cheers

Okay, I decided against a 7 inch or even a six inch quad because of the high cost of parts alone.
They are also far more sensitive to Frame rigidity and tuning.
Just saying, but its something to be aware of...

I was intending to use a tyro129 OK so i't not top notch parts by any stretch of the imagination but at less than £110 it's worth a go  :D
You are right the arm rigidity is quite critical. I remember watching a video about it. I think they were getting jello on their recordings and trying to stiffen the arms.

Well, how much jello you get could be down to the camera you are using too...So, go for a seven inch Quad if the price is right...If you want perfect HD footage though you may end up dissapointed.....
