Very interesting.
Makes you feel like giving up drone flying.
Can't see it stopping those idiots who fly where they want as they probably don't know of any rules or regulations exist.
Is it time for another hobby?   >:(

As long as you want to sit in a field in the middle of nowhere and fly around in circles you're laughing ! :)

Otherwise sorry not allowed. All of this is based on how dangerous the drone is, "danger" based on weight, not based on the zero incidents, injuries or deaths caused by drones.

Absolute joke, I know what I'll be doing, it wont be posted on forums anymore though :)

There are only so many hoops I am personally willing to jump through in order to enjoy a hobby.

So far I have:
a) taken out insurance (fair enough)
b) paid to register my potential participation in criminal activity that may or may not happen in the area that I live (even though I fly elsewhere).
c) sat an "exam" to prove my "competence" at something I've been doing for years with no issue.
d) paid a small fortune for aircraft and equipment that I am assumed to be using for criminal / anti-privacy purposes

On the subject of d), I find myself particularly bemused that someone would assume I would fly my aircraft in a risky manner - do they not realise the cost / time investment of these things? I am not in the position where I can be lax about losing upwards of £500-£1000 every time I fly, and take great pains to make sure the flight is going to be performed safely anyway - not only so I can avoid crashing into orphans but so I don't have to spend the time buying and rebuilding my stuff.

The rules are a nuisance for those who are actually hobbyists - I welcome the general exemptions for members of an association but I don't believe they go far enough and I also believe that the rules they "overrule" are way too complicated for the general public / casual users to pay any attention to.

Hence why I feel like they are counterintuitive - will be ignored, and do nothing to enhance safety. People already take precautions and did so without the authorities sticking their noses in.

Glaring error in the video is failing to mention the benefits of  Article 16 and the upcoming Electronic Conspicuity legislation thatís been written into law. Also failing to mention what happens to  any of the C rated UAS that are modified in any way.
