The latest from the Ministry of Planes on unmanned aircraft systems specifically mentions drones but not model aircraft.
Yes I know the same regs apply, just wondering why drones singled out.
Nothing startling in it, mostly common sense, quite short & no difficult wurds.

But the people with no common sense will never read this document.

Edited because I was a bit harsh.

I suppose "fair play" to CAA for putting out a document but I doubt ANYONE who actually needs it will read it. The CAA are invisible to people unless they have a passing interest in the regulations but I'm pretty sure that's very much a minority of drone owners.

I feel like the CAA want me to have a checklist and formal presentation of my intentions before I take-off, every single times. Just no! This silly bureaucracy needs to go away.

To which I would add....and the people with common sense probably don't need to read it.

No obvious mention of Article 16 exemptions and unless you went looking for this publication how would an operator know about it?

I was playing with my kids this afternoon in the garden and next door fired up a drone for their kid - he's only about 7 years old and while it was a toy grade one, it was pretty big and definitely wasn't under much control lol.

I wonder if they have registered with the CAA...
