The Futaba T12FG has, as standard, a 7.2vdc Ni-MH battery.
Ezuhf requires a 9 to 12vdc supply (according to its' manual)
What should I do ?
1) Go ahead as normal and let Ezuhf get 7.2vdc only from Futaba.
Or
2) Mod Futaba Trainer cable to no power gets through and instead get power from a separate 3 cell source (possibly through a regulator set at 10.75vdc)
Don't need to mod it.
Just feed the EzUHF with an external pack through the aux battery connector - it will pick the highest voltage
Your unit won't perform at spec if you feed it with less than 9v
Hi mate, I would use a separate lipo to power it, ezuhf can accept x2 power supplies & will select the best one. So modding cables should not be necessary.
Just double check that before you go ahead but about I'm 90% sure itll work
NOTE: The EzUHF transmitter may safely be powered via both connectors simultaneously, even if two different voltages are presented.
As an example: Take the case of a R/C transmitter which uses a 2s LiPo pack. The EzUHF will emit slightly less power than specified (approx. 25dBm on 8v, vs. around 29dBm on 11.1v) when powered this way. In most cases this power difference is insignificant, for buzzing around the local flying field, this is a very reasonable power level.
If full power is desired in this case, a 3s LiPo pack (or equivalent) can safely be connected to the DC Power jack, providing both higher power, and redundancy (no power will be consumed from the R/C transmitter's battery until the external pack is either drained, or removed).

Conclusion:
- I will leave the Futaba Trainer lead as it is.
- I will use a 3 cell Lipo, via a regulator set to 9.75 volts, to input power to the EZuhf 'DC' socket.
I assume that none of the 9.75 volts coming from the Lipo will 'leak back' through the Ezuhf and the Trainer cable into the Futaba and damage it ???
It won't... Your situation is the exact one described in the example I quoted from the manual above.

Rudeboy The 12FG and 8FG should only be powered by a 2S lipo. ;)
Reading the above but correct me if I'm wrong. The EzUHF is being powered separately by its own 3S pack whilst the Futaba FG TX still uses its own 2cell pack.
This can be done without the need to regulate anything as the way its wired the 3S EzUHF's pack back cant back feed into the TX.
