Does anyone know where (in the UK) i can get some simple parts cut from either 2mm G10 or 2mm carbon fibre sheet?
...at a reasonable cost.
I've drawn up the parts and can supply dxf files and are no bigger than 150mm x 150mm
I'm almost tempted to look into buying a table top router, but suspect that is a maze of hardware/software/file-type bear traps.
I'd be interested on this too! I have some Perspex bits that need routing...
Do you have a sample you could send me.
Could try it in the laser cutter. Fairly sure it will cut it out ok but would like to try it first.
Hazardpro....
What do you need doing. Gots lots of acrylic and a laser cutter that loves it!!!
Oh and do have a flat bed router if the laser cutter is not man enough!!!
Yey :)
Can I have your email please and ill email you the cad file.
Many thanks
Doug

PM sent. Make sure it is a DXF file if possible.
Cheers.
hi all
have tried to cut carbon fibre on my laser cutter and it just makes a mess
the laser just burns the edge and it just turns to dust
makes a good light show as the carbon burns
Well that's sounds fun at least!!
Got a huge CNC router if needs be that has a 2mm bit for some nice close stuff.
PM sent. Make sure it is a DXF file if possible.
Cheers.

Email sent! Thank you :D
Doug
Can you confirm the centre to centre of the holes across.
I get approx 53mm
I have 3mm acrylic in most colours if you have a preference?? 2mm is a bit to flimsy for most applications.
Should be able to get it cut tomorrow.
Will be about £3.00 to cover postage and Jiffy bag. Will cost nowt to cut as I will slip it on some waste.

Wow that would be awesome thanks!
53mm is fine (its not dependant on anything).
If Paypal is ok then ping me a payment request and ill send you some dollar!
Thanks again!
PS so thats £6 total? (I need two of them if poss)..
Doug
Nah just £3.00!!!
They will both fit in a bag together.

Can I be cheeky (will happily pay!) - 1 more plate, 3mm is fine.. its just a slightly different shape. I can get the DXF to you first thing in the morning?
Hope thats ok! Really appreciated it :)
G10 or CF sheet will definitely need to be routed rather than lasered :)
I don't have any G10 on hand but can i send you my dxf files to check?
If they're ok for use with your routing system i'll source some G10/carbon fibre and organise getting it to you.
I've been using razorlab to prototype these in perspex, but it's not the ideal material and they are a bit pricey.
Sweet I will send you a PM and then you can send me the DXF files.
I did not think the carbon would cut on the laser... Never mind we have the beast below to sort it!!
These have been laser cut this morning.

AWESOME!!!!!!!
Thank you, thank you :)
Just checking - is it clear perspex, It looks opaque?
D
It is opaque, gold colour. Slotted it onto some stuff that was cutting and used the waste so it cost nowt!!
Oh Pooo
Ok cool thanks, really appreciate your help.
If I check a beer your way are you able to do them clear? They need to be clear as I need to be able to see inside / the Naza light.
Sorry I just presumed you would be doing them in clear perspex :-[

Doug
si, pinged you an email with the DXF files yesterday afternoon.
Just wanted to check that you received them ok?
thanks,
Yep got them and I am going to see what I can get done today for you.
Si.
cheers... :)
It has imported in a little strange!!!!
At current import at 100% it would be about 10ft across!!!!!!
Can you give me the correct measurement as shown on the picture below and I will scale it down to suit and be the correct size.
I can cut out of 3mm acrylic to start with and you can try that. What colour do you want?!??!
....oh and was that the only one as the other file was corrupt.
(http://s14.postimage.org/gyhwnxi2l/zen_deck.jpg) (http://postimage.org/image/gyhwnxi2l/)
Sorry to butt in...
Simon - bits arrived today! Thank youi they are spot on! :D
On another note - can you cut PCB material?
Doug
10ft !? Might need to dial that one in at some point :)
Anyway, the dimension you've indicated should be 128mm, the small slots are 2mm wide and the circles at the bottom are ø45mm. Two have larger inner holes, one has smaller inner holes.
Black acrylic would be great, thanks.
...i used two different DXF exporters for the same drawing.
How do these look....???
(http://s9.postimage.org/cbylqxcy3/image.jpg) (http://postimage.org/image/cbylqxcy3/)
They look great, thanks.
Pm me a cost including postage and I'll sort it out.
Thanks again.
Managed to squeeze it onto some scrap so will not be much, just some to cover Jiffy bag and postage.
hi there, just wanted to make sure you'd received my paypal payment?
cheers
Yep they got posted yesterday......
Sorry for the delay but not got back in time for the Post Office early this week.
Simon.
Hi Simon,
Would you be up to cutting some more acrylic for me?
I've devised an acrylic sandwich to hold an Uno Vrx, IRC distribution box, SD-Card recorder etc. This can be bolted on to the back of a RMRC 10" tft monitor.
cheers
Certainly can but it will be the tail end of next week as the laser cutter is due its service and filters changed, lots of lights and sounds saying noooooooo!!! So if it can wait till then no worries.
top stuff, happy to wait...
will email you the dxf files to have a look at.
cheers, David
Blasted some more out yesterday.
Been a bit of a nightmare week for me with missing post and full up laser cutter filters... Got there in the end though folks!!

Hi Simon
Not sure if you got my message? Could I get some more bottom plates from you please?
If you can I can send you some money straight away,
Thank you
Doug
You sure can buddy. I did not reply as I am still waiting confirmation of the technician who works the laser cutter that it is ok to slip some stuff in.
As soon as I get a bit of news I will let you know.
Cheers
Simon.
Thanks Simon
Appreciate it. ;) Ill ping you a PM now anyway to confirm the bits needed.
