Bud, you have proven that you are a competent pilot, but I wish you would stay away from flying over moving traffic, I now your plane won't hurt if it hits, but if you went down in between those trees with that on coming car, he could panic and go of the road in to the trees, you now I,m no angel, I have a theory similar video on hear, but its on a unused privet farm lain with permission. I'm worried for what you will have to live with if the worst case happened.
I'm sure there's lodes of risk spots to fly, without it being over a road, sorry again, but I just had to say.

Therein lies the difficulty as different people have different ideas of what they consider safe. In addition, different pilots have different levels of skill which could influence the safe conduct of a flight.
When raising safety concerns before I have been taken to task, the jist of the argument being, it has been shown to be safe because nothing happened. Personally I do not support the retrospective school of risk assessment.
I have to agree with G on this one. Also I think it would be quite alarming and distracting to be driving along a road and suddenly be confronted with a model aircraft flying at you. It would be different if the drivers had been briefed on what was happening but obviously that is not possible without some serious amount of pre-planning and possibly having the road blocked as they would do for filming. It's maybe a consideration for the future though on a private road if you want some cool car chasing videos.
Yeah I do agree with the G man... I enjoy your videos in general but I don't really like the messing around by the road. The rest I like!
I think it was in another video where you chased your own/friends car - no problem there personally, but at one point you were only just overhead another car with your quad.
While I wouldn't say you yourself are likely to do much directly (with a plane at least, though i wouldn't want to crash a quad into a car) you shouldn't count on the drivers... It's not a great idea IMO.
Think about your accident the other day where your batt went south. If that happened while you are playing around over the road and someone is passing by then the best scenario is your quad gets run over, the worst is you cause an accident.

I do not mean to sound rude or arrogant when I say this: I am aware a what is right and correct when it comes to flying FPV, just quite often like to take a risk. The person who will be dealing with the consequences will be me and me alone. Fairly sure when the plane goes through the screen of the oncoming car the driver will not jump out covered in blood and scream OH MY GOD DAMN YOU FPV PILOTS I AM REPORTING YOU TO THE CAA...
Obviously no intent to injure or cause alarm. Not sure if many drivers would swerve into the nearest tree upon seeing a foam plane?!?.... You never know though eh?!?
It IS a great vid... you DO have great skill.... it wouldn't freak me out, but would I be able to keep my eyes on the road with a cool lookin bit of FPV kit buzzin around? Probably only bloody just!.. ;D

Not being funny or owt, but did you see those Russian drivers the other day when the meteorite struck? HUGE BALL OF FIRE AND DEATH DOING 1000's of MPH ACROSS THE SKY and noone swerved into a tree...

Well if you post something online you can expect to hear people's opinions I guess...
I don't think any of the (very gently) critical comments are comparing Mr OP to the next hitler, but people will have their views and are largely entitled to them.
It's worth commenting on in a positive way, sometimes people might do something without even considering the possibilities.
And while I totally agree about being able to take risks etc I don't believe anyone has the right to decide what degree of risk to put other people at. Here I'm mainly referring to trappy style flying close to the great unwashed at eye level with a quad for example more than I am about this... People often don't know any better, and don't appreciate the danger, but the pilot should.
But lets be realistic it's not like he was swooping down the m25 at cab height lol... For me It's more just a general debate than specific targeting of this video.
And Steve, have you seen some people drive? It's a wonder they manage to stay on the road at the best of times lol.

Probably they wouldn't as so many accidents aren't caused by one single event. All manner of things are likely to cause a distraction without severe consequences - birds, low flying aircraft, deer (in my part of the World), meteorites. But the point is that none of these other things are within our control, whereas chasing cars on a public road is a deliberate act.
OK I'm maybe coming over a bit stronger than intended, having done an aircraft accident investigation course last year where the consequences of a sequence of simple events would have much more catastrophic effects than in the model world. The points I tried to make were the difficulty in coming to a workable definition of what is safe and looking at alternatives where the risks can be more controlled but still be exciting to fly and for us to watch on video.
Thanks so much for the comments and I do take them on board and whilst I said "moaned at" I meant people will probably not agree.
I always take critique from people and think / feel it should be done in a way that you all have, in a nice and constructive way.
I am now flying my Hubsan X4 in a 3ft thick concrete bunker on its own with me outside, think we should be safe :laugh:

I'm really sorry if my comment offended anyone, and I didn't want to copy + paste of the countless other threads, in fact I sat there for ages wondering whether to bother posting up, but I do love Teamftp videos and anyone else's flying with a bit of risk to their own equipment, that really tests a pilots nerth, at the risk of smashing up hundreds of £, agen I have been on the receiving end of bizzy body fun killers, complaining that I have flown around the feet and over peeps head with my fox, that my argument was that its to small and light to heart anyone, but when flying FPV I always draw the line at low flying over roads or train lines, unless I now their deserted.
I feel that I cannot say, Great video mate, when I sit hear cringing, at what I'm sure would be unwanted risk to others in the cars.
I now Teamftp now's the flying rules and I'm not trying to educate him, I'm just hoping to see him fly somewhere using his abilities that I can put a positive comment on.
that way you get constructive comments, that Spears me on, to the next level of financial risk.

It didn't offend me Gordon but what I was getting at is basically, anyone who comments about the inherent dangers nowadays is basically just flogging a dead horse because many people, especially TeamFTP already know the dangers - we're heard it, we've argued and we've had fallouts (hi electrotor :laugh: )
That TeamFTP chose to do it anyway says it all, calculated risk and nothing bad happened - let's just assume that people know the rules and enjoy the vids?
Gridlion got grief because at the time FPVUK was an affiliated forum - nowadays his thread would probably be filled with "lol" or "cool" or "was the car driver hot?"
