Please could someone tell me how to work out which firmware my KK2 has installed?
when you plug the power to it the first screen shows what version it is.
Thanks, I see mine is V1.2 and it seems there are several revisions ( up to 1.5 ) available. I guess I should upgrade but having never re flashed anything it seems a bit daunting! Is it worth the upgrade and if so what hardware to I need?

It's definitely worth upgrading the firmware if you want to use self-level. In 1.2 the self-level doesn't really work very well at all, in 1.5 it is utterly transformed (although I have to say that in normal flight mode it seemed about the same to me after upgrading).
You'll need one of these type of things:

If you need the windows driver it is in the files tab on that HobbyKing link. One thing that I think that that video fails to mention is which way round to plug the cable onto the KK board.
The six pins on the lower left corner of the board are where you plug in the cable and the cable should stretch out to the right across the board - not to the edge off the left.

Original suspisions confirmed, this is going to be a challenge! I have the USBasp and have managed to get the driver to install and update so my PC (Win 7) will communicate with it. Got onto the Lazyzero site and downloaded the zip file containing the KK flashtool software, extracted the contents but cannot from actually launch the tool. (I have downloaded the latest version of Java) Any ideas where I am going wrong?
Cracked it, didn't understand the Windows promt bit but do now! FW succesfully re-flashed, a quick run through the new look menu and It seems the activation of the self level has now changed, no 5 channel switch option any more? How are folk using this feature now?
5th channel to switch on autolevel is still present in v1.5. There are other options so that you can use it with a 4 channel radio, possibly it is currently set to one of those... I don't know what it used to be like because I flashed to v1.5 as soon as I got my kk2.0. All the info you need is in the manual, in the HK files section.
Thanks, got to the bottom of it, there was a modified version of 1.5 in the Lazyzero repository that I chose by accident, re flashed with the 'normal' version and the option has magically reappeared!

I have to say, I am still amazed at the performance of the kk2.0 on v1.5. For the price it is staggering, I've never flown any type of helicopter before and never any other FC. I learnt on this system and it is astonishing how stable and capable it is for such a low price.
Do any of you awesome people fancy updating my kk2 to V 1.5?
Will pay for postage and your time. Don't know whether to just order the hardware from hobbyking, apparently they are a nightmare to deal with.
