Hi All
It took me a while to get this video out co's of IT issues on my side.
The Penguin is an awesomely stable platform and is somewhat of an Easy Star / Jumbo hybrid. I was pretty nervous at the maiden, but soon got over it when I realised it was not going anywhere and would only do what it was told.
Here's the set up:
Finwing Penguin kit from Desire RC

Finwing M2815 Motor and 9X6 APC prop with 60A Turnigy Plush ESC
5000mah 3S
FY 31AP and Hornet OSD on latest firmware
5A UBEC (Hobbywing) off a 1000mah 3S running servo's etc.
SecCam2000 WDR 600 (needs work on settings)
Dragon Link
500mw Boscam 2.4 VTX
3DJim 2.4 skew antennas
This set up climbs like a beast at 20A (max throttle), cruises at about 12 - 15A and all the low level slow stuff (with little wind) was pulling about 7A or less at times. My weight at the moment is about 2.2Kg and I could definitely pack on more without any hassles. My longest flight was 22 minutes (cut short by boredom) in which she flew about 14km's round trip. I've only taken it easy in the first three flights and after 20 mins or so flying I've been putting back about 3400mah into the lipo.
I'v taken it out to 2km without any hint of a break up in signal, so I will be going further and higher pretty soon.
Ground take off is a doddle and she tracks straight for the wind. If the CG is off, it will give you hard landings with a bad stall (see end of vid) but I quickly got that sorted with a shift in CG. Taxiing is okay, considering no steerable wheel - gets over the Pony poop with ease!
As to stability, it flies beautifully and straight as an arrow without any stabilisation. With ABM on, it's like a Rolls Royce!
OK, enough of singing it's praises, here's the video. Looks nice in 720p.

WOW!

Nice!!
Flyboysee Love it, lovely vid, smooth flying lovely views :D
You just kick started me back onto my penquin again :D
dizzy :)
Very nice Rich, looks like she really did fly well :)
Looked good Richard
I would however have the Gopro on a Pan and tilt mate TBH,
Just an observation
Nice anyway
Thanks for the feedback all. I have several changes to make to the set up, especially the Go Pro position and mounting - let's face it, two small elastics is dangerous.
The flight cam also needs tweaking on the menu. Using Coyote's settings it flickered like crazy, especially when there is sunlight on the back of the go pro, or panning over the wings so lots of experimenting to do.
Also to me, there is too much nose in the shot (which may also be causing the WDR to act abnormally). Either way I'm quite happy with it. I can recommend it for anyone looking for stability / efficiency, but be warned, it's very docile. Next vid I'll throw it around a bit and see what happens :)
Looks great Richard and nice to see another Penguin in the air. I found mine really docile to start with (bit like a big Jumbo!) and subsequently wound the rates up to give it bit more life.
I'm not happy with the video which I'm getting on my setup and wonder if having the nose partially in view is impacting it? A bit of tweaking required, but its too cold to go out in the workshop at the minute! Is it me, or has this winter seemed a long one?
Look forward to see more videos and hopefully we can meet up at one of the FPV events this year and compare Pengu's!
Happy flying!
Nice one mate - sounds like you are a happy chappy :D
cheers,

Oof! It's been a long one Matt, but I'm hopeful for a good and long spring / summer. I found the temps to not be too bad, but the light has been terrible this year. As to the camera I found your pic quite good, but perhaps the nose does set the WDR up wrong. I'm using the grey sticker on it, and have WDR fluctuations quite pronounced (I edited most of that out).
We'll definitely be setting something up soon for Spring in either Great Haseley, or the New Forest. Would be cool to meet up.

Thanks Simon, I am! The power set is perfect and I'm feeling a lot of confidence in the plane and set up - also really enjoying the 2.4 video. Can you believe the amp draw? Seriously I'm landing early... short attention span.
I hope you sell tons of em!
Richard
That was great bud. nice steady bird.
