So I have bought a Turnigy 9XR TX and apart from the questionable build quality it is not that bad... The PPM output simply fell out. Great for when using my EZUHF!!!!..... splat!! :o :o
So my question is has anyone ever used / had experience of the RMILEC UHF system.
The module would plug in at the back and be nice and neat.
Thoughts please....

There is a review of Turnigy 9XR + RMILEC UHF in this video. I haven't seen that part of the video and I have no knowledge or opinion of the reviewer.

I use RMILEC on my Turnigy ER9x. So far no dramas, and the old (well, V2) turnigy 9x has better build quality than the 9xr (so I'm told). If I need a new TX I'll be getting the old style 9x and steering clear of the 9xr for now... at least until the v2
RMILEC has not once let me down. I have 2 x receivers as I now fly a funjet ultra and a bixler 2. I'll not hesitate to buy another RMILEC reciever for my next platform... probably a wing of some description.
I've been unable to test the limit of it's range, i've been 2.2km away from myself and 1km high... still had full control and no glitching. If you have no plans to go further than that then RMILEC is perfect for the price.

Cheers for that. The EZUHF is stuck to it now but was hoping that the RMILEC stuff may perform simular to it?!?!
The 9XR certainly does not have the high quality feel of a Futaba radio but for the price of it WOW!!!! It is not the easiest to operate but I have it all set up on the Zephyr and TBS Disco now and gotta say it is all good. Just wish it has another 3 way switch on it!!
The 9XR looks quite nice from 20 paces.. It all starts to go a bit pear shaped once you've got It in your hands :D

Yep but for the money?!?! Could you get any better, i don't know.
My futaba 8FG was more than 3x the price of this second hand!!!!
Feature wise no way, its el-cheapo!
But it becomes a bit of a false economy if you're using it to control several hundred quid worth of plane and FPV gear :D
However there doesn't appear to be floods of unhappy users saying their planes have flown off into the sunset? :)

perhaps, but I've never had any issues with my tx module overheating... I've done many flights including a 15 min 2.2km out and back flight... a 1km up flight preceeded by 10 mins or so pre-flight fiddling around with the TX on and bound
Its probably worth mentioning that I am using a Nagoya NA-771 antenna with mine, not the standard telescopic garbage that it came with.... from what Bruce said, it's possible that the antenna is not tuned well and the power cant escape and stays in the rf module... heating it up from inside.
I've had my RMILEC since last summer, not a single overheating problem or glitch or dropout. I use 2.4ghz for my video so that's not affected either. Id say that for me, and for the price... it's still good.
but if you want 100% proven capability/reliability/support... get one of the other offerings for uhf

Wow that was very poor. Great video though.
you can tell by the way he sits down that the transmit antenna (still the crappy telescopic jobby by the way) is pointing pretty much directly at the aircraft. we all know that's a big no no (fresnel zone and all that).
Also, notice how he edits the video so just as the AXN goes behind that big tree it transfers to the keychain footage full screen... not long after that he gets his first lockout.
in order to get proper diversity from the receive antennas, you need to orientate them at 90 degrees to each other... yes... but on the same plane (not aeroplane) as the transmit antenna is orientated.
his rx antennas were pretty much horizontal, the tubes are flexible enough to be affected by the passing air, flattening them out even more. the way his antenna is installed on the back of the 9x meant that it was only ever going to be vertical (which is not good if your RX antennas are horizontal) or pointing directly at the aircraft.
seriously guys, if you were to buy dragonlink/rangelink/EZUHF would you really use cheapo crap antennas and mount them wrong?
I'm defending RMILEC because it's never done me wrong, I've done 2.2km no issues, only yesterday I went over 1km... no issues. I think Bruce has a bee in his bonnet about RMILEC for some reason as he's not giving it the best chance of success by installing it wrong and using crap antennas. at least spend £10 on a nagoya
