Title: EzUHF v1.41 firmware problems?
Post by: DaveyLC on April 13, 2013, 04:18:11 PM
I just tried to upgrade mine and Ratty's gear to v1.41 and it all just went crazy!

Upgraded the TX and RX to matching versions and can bind but the channel assignments appear to have all swapped around and the servos are jittering like mad!

Rolled both sides back to the previous version and all is fixed..

WTF is going on? :|

You can allocate individual channels to wherever you want, so just change them around to how you need them.

Well that explains that :D my servo leads are all on a single loom with one big connector so I cant move them around ..

I'll try upgrading again at some point and move the channels around :D I've downgraded to my last good known version which is 1.29.

The new version has several enhancements, I suggest you try to get it working!

As mentioned, you can re-order and channel to any output and also add HT signals into additional channels in the ppm stream giving you free extra channels.

   Did not even know you could re-order the channels. Proves I did  not read anything about the update, whoooops!!

At which end do I need to re-order? RX or TX ? :)

Should be Tx end

That explains that then :D I checked rx end and all was good didn't look at tx :)

Does this mean that us Spektrum Peasants can now use the PPM out?

Don't think it has any effect?

The only issues with spektrum that I'm aware of are the slightly low ppm levels (not timing) and the reliability of the 3.5mm jack. The firmware doesn't appear to address the voltage issue and the jack issue is obviously hardware.

The one thing that does help is that you won't get a hunting failsafe behaviour if the ppm stream is disconnected as would happen if the plug is loose... You will now get a proper failsafe. Think that was fixed in 1.29 though maybe?

The other issues (eg powering the EzUHF) come down to convenience rather than real problems.

Lol.. that's not what I mean :D.. I've been using EzUHF reliably for donkeys.

The issue I had is after I upgraded my TX and RX to v1.41 the channels were in Futaba order :)

Ch1 (Throttle) was aileron.
Ch2 (Aileron) was elevator

etc. :)

Damn I didn't read the release notes properly:

Switch from 9600 baud over-the-air rate, to 19200
This brings us many advantages, but as a side-effect gives a very slight reduction in sensitivity. In most cases this will be barely noticable (< 1dB).

Support for up to 12 channels
The higher data rate now allows us to send up to 12 channels of PPM from compatible R/C transmitters. This functions with current EzUHF transmitters, no hardware change required.
The list of compatible transmitters is still TBD, testing was performed with the er9x firmware on the Turnigy 9x, which has a very flexible PPM channel count/frame rate control.

Spekrum DX8 Glitch
Its come to our attention that too many n00bs are using Spektrum transmitters; we determined that DX8's use a 27.9299ms frame spacing so when that is detected the air-craft will automatically pitch to 70 degrees nose down and an engage full throttle.

I've been flying for a while with v1.41 and I've noticed a new problem:

EzUHF v1.41 Makes Spektrum DX8 beep like mad near metal objects (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nxc0kkneooA#)
