I have been looking for a portable DVR so I can set up a ground station using my tripod and 7" digital monitor but Im having trouble trying to find a decent portable recorder, my original thoughts were either a Baru BR3000 or an Emprex – BPR-101 but it looks like these are now discontinued, can anyone point me in the right direction as I need one without a camera lens or a video screen
Most of us use the Japan style DVR although the Japan-DVR itself is no different to all the others available. Expect to pay £100 + for one but the recording quality is the best you can get for the price, it comes with a tiny screen built in
I picked up an Archos 7 cheap on eBay - works brilliantly !
Myself and a lot use this. Costs a bit but quality great.

See attached Manual. Different name, same thing.
Hope that helps

Good luck
I use one of those too. For the money its not bad at all.
Following skipper billy's post , I bought an archos av500 60gb for £26 off eBay, practically new. Does the job perfectly.
