I was wondering for the DJI return to home Is there a function that you can tell it to gain altitude before returning home and Landing? Or can you only make it turn around and come straight back?
Also is the fail safe the same thing? Plus is I were to lose radio control signal would it realise that and come home?
It automatically climes up, before it returns to launch.

[/quote] It will return to home and land if u lost your radio control link only if you have set your reciever failsafes correctly ie rth switch on and throttle to more than 25percent :D

I believe Naza will climb to 20m before returning to you....unless it's already more than 20m up in which case it just stays at that altitude.
Like Dizzy says - you need to make sure your rx supports a failsafe function, so you can tell you rx to activate RTH if it looses the RC link.

Not with the Naza, as I said it'll rise to 20m before coming home, or if > 20m already just come home at that distance. It's also giving you the chance to reestablish an RC link, there's a pause before each of the phases - so on initial control loss, it'll sit there.. wait, then go up.. wait, then come back, wait and finally land. I believe the WooKong has the return altitude programmable... but it's lots and lots more money.

Naza is a specific multi-rotor flight controller, *most* RTH systems in planes work by taking elevator and aileron control (sometimes throttle) in order to steer the plane back to the original co-ordinates. Once there, they circle around some way above you.
As far as I know only the APM (ardupilot) can land a plane... although it's not something many have the guts to try, but also works on multis/planes and cars

Silly question how can you get ur quad to come home if you lose radio control signal? Would be very handy to have that.
You set up a switch on your tx to switch naza into failsafe mode. You then set up your rx failsafe so that it defaults to switching the switch on. You do need a rx with full failsafe though - some just allow you to adjust the throttle channel only.
Simples.
You also need to 'smart' bind your tx and rx to make it work.
What is smart bind?

Example of what you do with a FrSky rx which is what I use to set fail safe, is on my radio I switch my manual RTH switch on and set throttle to 50%, then I press a button on the rx. If the rx looses the signal from the radio it then sends this signal to the Naza controller - which obliges by coming home
The rth works great on the Naza i have it on a switch and also if i turn my tx off it kicks in (so loss of signal would activate it) i have turned the tx off and it does work fine however you do need to set this up first using the software on the pc is easiest.
One thing is i find the 20m climb a bit hit and miss it does not always climb to 20m i have set the rth off when and 2-3 feet and it only went up 8-10m and would not have cleared a big tree for instance. So dont rely on it but id at a decent hight it will work a treat. I have used mine once in a real emergency and it was great to see it come home all on its own.

Put the bind plug into the receiver and power on as normal but now remove the bind plug.
When you power on the tranny into bind mode- whatever position the switches and sticks are in will be the remembered failsafe position.

Not familiar with FrSky gear but it sounds the same. It works with Spektrum and JR etc.

I know it sounds pedantic but the devil is in the detail as they say. Is the RTH altitude based on the altitude at take off point or the point at where the RTH is invoked? It may not matter much in Norfolk but it does here in Wales!
If you invoke RTH at less than 60 feet higher than where where you took off from it will climb to 60 feet then fly home and descend.
If you are higher than 60 feet from where you took off from when you invoke it it will fly home at that altitude.

The NAZA is not aware of your terrain. So it will climb to 20 meters above ground level from where you connected the battery.

Here is a question. I thought I had my quad set to come home and land.
I flip the oh shit which to call it home and pull back on the stick. I have to keep the stick down or it will not come home. Problems is it won't land and it over shoots home and carries on unless I let the stick go to get control.

It sounds like you hit the IOC switch rather than the RTH.

IOC = Intelligent Orientation Control
It basically means in this mode, pulling back means come back to you - irrespective of which way it's facing... not used it.
Here's the thing, when you engage RTH, you don't need to pull back on the stick... in fact doing that will do nothing, unless you take it out of RTH.
Load up the Naza assistant and check what flight mode it goes into when you flick this switch... because it certainly doesn't sound like RTH is engaged

I might be wrong, but I didn't think the naza could be set up with an rth switch like the WKM.
On my naza(s), I've set up a switch which forces the flight mode into the failsafe zone, via a mix, and also uses a throttle cut function with an offset to fix the throttle at a bit below 50%.
in the assistant tx monitor it works as planned, but not had the balls to try it for real yet. Maybe this weekend.
The NazaM CAN be set to RTH at the flick of a switch.
