Hi Guys
I bought a Bixler 2 last year just to hoon around with. I decided to upgrade the motor to the NTM Prop Drive 28-36 2200KV / 696W to get a better flight experience.
On a 3 cell it flys great and is fine for general flying. With a 4 cell its a totally different animal and great fun.
Here is the video.

Nice...... that certainly shifts now :)
Have you done anything with the single CF wing joiner tube to give it any more strength (or fitted a second joiner to help it with the loads) ?
PK
Hi PK
No I haven't added to the cf joiner yet but intend to sooner than later as I feel the 4 cell m,ight see more action.
I wanna see that 4S setup on an AXN with clipped wings! It'd be nuts!

hahaha i run the same motor on a bixler 2.2 on a 5x5.. i pull 45 -50 amps flat out.. on 4s just have to watch the wings :D
Use a wrapped carbon spar hollow dude not a carbon rod...
more expensive but a lot stronger
Hi Adrenalinjunki
I unfortunately fell fowl of the carbon spar when it folded during a loop. luckily the Bixler 2 has been rebuilt although at first i didn't think it would make it as it was in too many bits. any how I am now using a solid carbon rod which is a bit better but i am a bit shy to give it full beans after having stoved it good and proper.
I have just searched for wrapped carbon spars but can't find any 6mm ones the smallest I found was 8mm. Do you know of a supplier that can provide a 6mm?
All the best Steve
Woolmer Forest Composites do Pullbraided carbon tubes. I think these might be what AJ is talking about. http://www.woolmer.co.uk/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=3_50 (http://www.woolmer.co.uk/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=3_50)
Cheers Spookfish I've bookmarked that page.
Hi Adrenalinjunki
I got my replacement rod from these guys unfortunately the roll wrapped ones start at 8mm and the bixler 2 takes a measly 6mm.
I epoxied a 4mm rod inside my spar, does the trick
Thanks for the suggestions guys. Unfortunately for me im off to meet a ship in Dover tomorrow morning and have to work until october the 4th. So my bixler is resting in the hangar stroke second bedroom until then. I will then address the spar situation and burn up some sky.
I managed a farewell flight today with the bixler and my new hk rarebear which was just what the doctor ordered. I hope to post some footage of the rarebear soon as it's my new addiction (on 4 cell) it goes like a bullet.
All the best Steve
