It's no secret anymore, I pranged the Penguin to a borderline unrecognisable pulp while flying at FPV Bounce last saturday. What caused the accident was a balance lead wire came out of it's pin. The result: while I was flying inverted I lost picture. I immediately turned on ABM hoping it would right the plane then settled my power and hit RTL. We waited for about 10 minutes looking skyward and nothing, so Bignose13 launched his Bixler and he and Angelos found it in the goggles.

What was good from the remains was;
1. Wings and Tailfeathers
2. All servo's (MG90)
3. ESC, Motor, FY31AP, Hornet OSD, Hobbywing 8A UBEC
What got damaged beyond repair was;
1. Fuse (it could have been repaired, but I have an image to keep up :) )
2. 360 degree 1 turn servo
3. Go Pro has gone in for new LCD and the lens while not cracked got set back by about 1mm, put it right out of focus.
4. 1000mah 3S battery - wafer thin!
5. 5000mah 3S - very badly damaged. I'm surprised it never caught fire.
Lucky for me Simon Asomaro from Desire RC had heard about my troubles and rocked up at FPV Bounce with a brand spanking new plane (the last in the country for now I believe).
I've had a hectic week so I haven't been able to do anything so far, but this evening I got the keys for the Club House at Great Haseley where we are having the Mad Dogs meet and I set to work. I have used the left side of the fuse to do my installs... This is what I got done this evening;
Installed battery bay with 2 x extra velcro straps to hold the batteries very firmly in place and set in with epoxy. Here you can also see the UBEC with on / off switch cut in and glued accessible from outer fuse

Cut in and glued elevator servo far aft to aid with balance. I'll use an M2 rod with metal clevices all over.

Next in line from the tail is the Dragon Link antenna

With any luck, I'll have it ready and flying at Mad Dogs - it will be too good a meet to miss. There won't be any Go Pro footage from me, but it's going to be a cracking meet I'm sure!
Next up, the Bixler... I'd like to get that ready for the meet to do a night flight :)

The way I see it Rich is that statistically I'm more likely to crash than you, so it's a fair bet in my mind :)
She flew on the unofficial day 2 of Mad Dogs, and aside from flying off with a motor that had it's shaft removed, she flew great on the new motor and looks a little more like a Penguin than she used to :)
