So I have started a Z2 build with RVOSD. I have 2 major issues:
1. If there is no video signal coming from the flightcam, the OSD stays dark. So if for any reason the flightcam dies during flight, bye bye plane or quickly flip to RTL?
2. Is there a quick way to invoke RTL, ie. a flip of a switch? From what I can see I have to get into the OSD menu, and select RTL myself OR switch off my transmitter and using the failsafe RVOSD should go into RTL mode.
1. I am fairly sure my RVOSD output picture without a camera when I was setting it up I distinctly remember seeing it before I had plugged in my camera. Think about it, what if your flight cam gives up? With RVOSD you can fly blind.... it would be v. bad design if the OSD stopped when the camera did. I wonder if there is something up with your wiring causing that?
2. Yes. Configure RVOSD FS throttle detect in the normal way. Then configure a switch on your TX with a mix to bump the throttle into the failsafe position you previously set. Then you just set RVOSD failsafe to RTH.
That you you can save the 3 position switch for other modes like fly by wire.
I can reproduce it everytime - the RVOSD does not show up when there is no signal from the camera. Once the camera delivers a signal, its immediately on.
Thanks though for the RTL/Throttle solution, that makes sense.

Ok I'll get back to you when I get a chance to plug mine in and confirm.
Cheers mate.
A few of them (OSD's) don't generate their own sync-signal so need the video from camera..
I know the Cyclops and the FY-Hornet generate their own sync signal and will give you the over-lay without a video feed :)
Its confirmed, no video, no OSD. Checked back with RVOSD.
That's a bit crap :o
It's pretty common... The majority don't generate their own sync.
Be interesting to know which ones do, as its very useful for redundancy.. i.e. if your camera dies you can still use the home arrow.
I know G-OSD/CL-OSD doesn't have its own sync signal.
The old Cyclops & FY21/31 do :)
FY Hornet OSD works without cam. I also think thats pretty crap of RVOSD. Classic example where it comes in handy if you have OSD without the cam was someone posted a video of his wing colliding mid air with another and the flightcam died so he flew home on instruments until LOS.
So you are saying that as soon as I loses the video the plane crashes, it doesn't turn on the return to launch it just crashes. If so, would somebody like to buy my RVOSD
If you loose your picture select rth or turn your transmitter off to activate rth :)

Nope thats not what im saying. The RVOSD will work just as before but you will not see anything on the screen and have to rely on the RTL IF you switched it on / activated it by turning the transmitter off.
