I thought my UBEC had died at the MadDogs meet so I've tried a new UBEC and my EzAntenna still doesn't power up unless I power it through the USB or one of the servo ports.
I've made up a cable so I can power via a servo port but it would be nice to know why it died :(
**EDIT** For anyone who googled "Faulty EZAntenna" here is the solution:
Repair Your Faulty ImmersionRC EZAntenna - Antenna Tracker (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7cpaceF7oWk#ws)
Look for a fried track, the tracks to the other servo pins should be fine though they can carry a fair bit of current
The tracks I can see are fine but the rest of it is under the screen :(
It appears to be safe (as you say) to power via a servo port ill stick with that and I might make up a nice little loom so the servos are powered direct :)
I always powered mine from the servo ports, never had any problems
Its a multi-layer PCB, the power feed must be in the middle of the board.. A little bit of an oversight in the design :)
The strip between the two servo ports is quite meaty though! But never the less I decided to do a little mod to save me having any excess wires in the box.
I've added a little jumper between the centre pins on the BEC and servo ports and all is well in EzAntenna land :D
Job done :)
