I thought I had my DJI F330 setup alright, but with the corking weather yesterday, I've put another handful of flights on it. When flying in Atti, or GPS modes, it seems to be okay. There is a bit of low frequency wobble when descending vertically, but other than that, it seems pretty much rock solid. Yesterday though, I was flying in Manual mode. This gives me a much better climb rate, and the control rates are much better for hooning around. One thing I have noticed, is that during fast climbouts, and occasionally when doing hard turns, I get a high frequency oscillation appearing. This would suggest that the gains are still a touch high.
So, has anyone else noticed this happening? And does anyone remotely set the gains differently for flying in manual mode and other modes (so as you change mode, the gains are changed too? And is it normal to get a better climb rate in manual mode, compared to GPS/Atti mode?

A bit more flying over the weekend, and I have now setup some flight modes on my TX. I have it now so that it automatically adds a shedload of expo, and also activate a dual rate switch when I switch into Manual mode. When in Atti or GPS Atti modes, all expo and rates are removed.
Just got to fine tune the gains now to iron out the slight high frequency wobble. Although, I've complicated things by updating the Naza firmware to V3.12....

I have just started flying occasionally in Manual mode on the F550 ready for when the TBS:Discovery arrives, For this reason I've recently programmed some EXPO.
Question is, does the EXPO have any detrimental effects on control with The Naza in Atti or GPS, can't see that it would but what your opinion?
DOne some more testing this evening in the back garden, and I've had some interesting results. I programmed a dial on my tx to adjust the gains (did one at a time) whilst flying, to see if I could tell the difference. The results are as follows:
Pitch and Roll basic gain. I've settled on 115% for them both. High results in a high frequency wobble when ascending or descending quickly.
Yaw basic gain. I've settled on 110%. Lower reduces the snappiness of the yaw response. Higher seems to introduce a bit of a diagonal wobble when the yaw stops.
Vertical gain. I'm currently on 110%. Take it higher, and it seems to have little effect, unless it is considerably higher. Then it gets a bit drifty up and down. Taking it lower has no noticeable effect, until it is down around 50%, where it starts to become really sluggish in response to altitude changes.
Pitch and Roll Attitude gains. This is where it gets interesting. In Atti mode, I increased this until it got to about 210%, and the response is really snappy and nice. Brilliant for sporty type flying. Put it in manual mode though, and it is bordering on unflyable. I had to reduce the gains to about 150% to get it flying nice in manual mode.
Does this seem to match up with other peoples experience of playing around with the gains? I'm surprised how little effect the vertical gain seems to have, and I'm currently trying to figre out a way of programming my TX to change the attitude gains between ATTI mode and Manual mode...
I'm going to repeat the process on my TBS Discovery now, and see if it is similar.

Smit, If you have a futaba it's very easy to set expo/dual rates to change with the mode switch.
I run expo in manual but none in Atti or GPS Atti.
Andy - seems similar but never tried such high Atti gains... I don't like how quick it snaps to centre if you release the sticks with such gains.
