Title: What's this?
Post by: JezUK1 on June 10, 2013, 11:47:38 AM
Hi guys,

I have noticed that at the bottom of one of my Motors from my DJI450 quad has got some kind of shinny particles which have flaked off. What is this any thoughts?

Bearing seized?

Most likely shavings between the stator and the can.

This can happen for example when there is lots of lateral stress on the motor causing the stator and magnets to come into contact and you can chip one of the two which then end up getting ground to dust inside the motor.

Probably not gonna be a bearing, these bearings are mostly sealed.

Does the motor feel nice and free still??

If so clean it up with some GT85 and carry on :D

It feels just like all the others. Could the prop be on to tight?

If its a DJI motor it doesn't matter how tight the prop is, as its a NTM style motor and not bolted to the spindle :)
