Title: TeamFTP - A how to guide on setting up the EZtracker and walk round of the setup
Post by: Teamftp on July 04, 2013, 09:18:21 PM
DaveyLC did a great job of a video like this a bit back so here is a version in Yorkshire for us Northerners to understand!!

Thought I might as well have a go whilst we were setting up Jonny's tracker.

Nice video, When you press calibrate for the first time it does it just go to the center of the servo travel? So when you go out the set distance from the model and press calibrate you're just telling it that direction is center?

Thanks

That is sort of it.

When you press home you have the aircraft next to the tracker. I then takes a reference point from the GPS and knows where it is. You then calibrate it by pressing the centre button. This does centre the servo travel and then you walk away, a good 20-30 paces, this then gives the tracker another GPS reference point and I then can work out where the plane is.

When the centre button is pressed when the plane is 20-30 paces out it is calibrated and is good to go. Just walk around and you should see it track.

It's all clever stuff!!

When you set home  it assumes the plane is next to the tracker, then the second reference point (20+ paces directly in front of the tracker) is used to work out the direction the tracker is pointing in.

You also have to make sure you have a good GPS lock so the accuracy is high enough other wise your tracker will do all sorts of crazy things :D

Its also possible to stick a compass to the top of your tripod, leave the tracker always set to 0 degrees and then manually point it north.
