I'm starting to get my HK Orange Open LRS RC system sorted. I'm wondering what connector people use to attach the antenna (459 MHz). SMA connector feels a bit weedy. Has anyone used a BNC connector or have other suggestions?

16.3cm antenna length if your making a monopole for it
Hi skyscraper, I am also using openLRS openLRSng flashed (orange modules). I made my antenas sma connectors and made a inverted vee the range is amazing. I will be range testing soon. 2k with little los when I took it for a test walk down the road. Also a few trees and houses in the middle of that 2k. You can use the module to tune the antena if you use a serial monitor. RcHacker has a good thread on this. Hope it all goes well

The inverted vee is more efficient in terms of RF and the way RF radiates. IBcrazy has done amazing work with some very good explanations and the physics behind it all. Mark at RCHacker is using 433mhz but you can change the equation to match your frequency. I am really pleased with the inverted vee set up I have tones of range. For the antenna I used 0.8mm mig welding wire. Hope this helps.
I found no benefits of using the inverted Vee over a properly tuned Dipole for general flying.
On my original OpenLRS I got out 8km on 459Mhz with 433mhz antennas on it so it shows you that the antenna tuning is not exactly critical unless your pushing it to the max
Yeah the Inverted-V is generally used for video for when you want to push the boundaries and be comfortable that when you turn back you're video signal is likely to improve: The idea is to have the open end of the V pointing forwards (as that will be the end with the most RF radiation).
IMHO best antenna for RC would be a dipole :)

I have been trying to get Orange TX and RX to work, but so far failed. They are flashed with openLRS V3.0 I'm sure they are binding, as the TX beeps if I switch the RX off once binded (?). I'm using either a Hitec Transmitter from the Module pins or DX8 from the trainer port.
Any ideas?
