Is there any thing i should consider so as to ensure my 8Ch Diversity Receiver is safe from malfunction that I wouldn't have to consider with any other kind of receiver such as Futaba 2.4GHz and 35MHz receivers ?
I have 2 x Hitec Analogue Servos, a Castle Creations Talon 90 ESC of which I intend to use the BEC from that which is providing 5.8V as measured with a multimeter. Rite wing 1200Kw Motor supplied by 4S Batteries. I am also coupling in a FY-DOS and GPS along with IRC 2.4GHz VTx.

The immersion rc tools software has a spectrum analyser to see if you've got it right ;)
High numbers are better, anything above 90dbi is good - you can see what is making noise on your plane.
I'd use a independent bec to power the Diversity Receiver, far
less chance of hitting problems then.
Turnigy ones are good and quiet from RF noise.
Well, I've plugged the receiver in, switched on my Tx'er and powered up the zed to set the aileron and elevator throws... All going nicely, almost had them up and down the prescribed values and then no control... Little led on the EzUHF Rx'er no longer blinking, was on solid though so decided to rebind. Nothing. Put it on IRC tools and it won't detect the Rx'er.
Funnily enough there was something of an odd smell in the air, so stuck my nose close the the Rx'er and yes, it stinks of burnt vero-board. My guess is the receivers fried but why?
I've since has a 2.4Ghz Rx'er in there and it's been working for ages without an issue and most definitely it hasn't started to smell of anything it shouldn't.

Worked then fried for no fecking reason!
Is back at firstpersonview getting looked at.

I got it from Firstpersonview as well, I've recently had one exchanged as it was one of the recalled Rx'ers... It's not me being a cloth headed idiot, there were two of us setting up the ailerons when it went so we weren't doing anything we shouldn't have or made a mistake. It's been working, was working while doing the throws, it's just gone pop.. I've also got a thread on FPVLab about it, Sassen has responded and assured me that the 5.79V going in wouldn't be the cause as they can take up to 7.4V. It can't be my wiring as the 2.4Ghz receiver is working fine.

Yeah mate I was with him while we were setting up his one on his skywalker, we had just set all the throws & were setting the throttle cut to act as a RTH switch & the thing went, the light stopped blinking & no response from servos or motor there was a funny smell.
He has sent his back for exchange.
That's exactly what occurred to mine... And I was with PeweePete in his kitchen but only doing the throws when no more response and awful smell. I'm suspecting the area around the new tin shield if your mate has one of the newer Rx'ers, it smells worst around that area..
I've just emailed Firstpersonview, hopefully mine will get replaced....

I had my head bitten off on FPVLab for saying I suspect it's a manufacturing fault... But when a 2.4 and a 35 receiver both work flawlessly one suspects that its not the set up that's wrong, it's the piece of equipments fault and I never made the equipment...

You have keep at them over there! As that's the last thing they need is MORE faults! You gotta say well if it ain't that what is it? This is the second one ive seen fail like this, can you help me figure it out.

Yes they have replaced it, no explanation or reason was given - just exchanged.
That's terrific... Fingers crossed they do same for me, at least I can perhaps say that I know of another that's gone faulty and been replaced if they don't do same for me. They have had it since Thursday as sent it recorded delivery, but heard nothing to date which is actually quite unusual for Firstpersonview as they are usually always on the ball responding to customer support tickets...
