Oh no!!! SO sorry to see that A very strange failure imo
Ho Bad was the damage to your gear ?
dizzy :(
Oh what a shame.
It looks like the CofG moved aft - could a lipo have come lose and worked it way backwards??
What happened mate? Your first woah looked you maybe lost control as it was coming in the turn and just got it back to pull up. But by the time you said Nooo! It just kinda spiralled over and hit the ground as if you lost an aileron.
Awww No :(
It looked fantastic in the air, what a bummer.
Damn Busted!!!
Sorry
Sorry to read this bad news Granpaw. She looked a lovely bird too. :(
Steve
Sweet people!! .. I reckon one of the gearboxes which had been stiff and which I had dismantled to loosen off might've worked its way loose of the drive, so wasn't only not driving but also 'windmilling', slowing one side of the plane uncontrollably. In turn 3, where she starts to loose altitude rapidly is the beginning of the problem. You can see as she flies past for the last time that she's flying at an angle, crabbing slightly. Least that's what I've come up with as she was flying quite perfectly...
At least it's on flim and I can share...
Before this flight I flew my DC3 for the 1st time since a big renovation. She flew beautifully until a motor mount 'vibrated' loose, I caught that ok and landed her nicely.. Phew..Then after I crashed the Lancaster I Thought I'd have a second flight with my Ripmax Spitfire and chucked it into the ground. G.J.
Oh damn, that looked pretty bad, such a nice model too
Disaster, sorry bud.
:( G
Ah no! What a shame. Sorry dude.
... yeah.... then I went and did this straight afterwards.. in the process of fixing it right now.... heavy bummer!!

Stupid old git!
poor old spit' :(
looks like she will live to fight another day though :)
simon.
Looks like a shit day mate! beautiful Lanc, Thats the second T N one I've seen that didn't last too long,I think it's a weight issue with them, it did seem to be motoring along, still at least the Spit looked like it survived with not to much damage,
Chin up mate, we all have crap days sometimes but the good days make it all worthwhile don't they.
Cheers... know what?.... I can remember thinking 3 weeks ago....
'Flying's coming along Jonesy, haven't crashed LOS in ages... hanger clear of pending repairs....'
Hah! In that time now I've had the Waco crash, Westland Whirlwind (twice), Lanc, Spit..
Posting the 2nd failed flight of the Westland Whirlwind online later,
G.J.
yeh know what you mean, nothing for ages then three come along together, at which point I'm thinking.......I'm gonna take up Knitting!
beautiful plane. what a shame!
where did you get the Lanc from? I would love to fly one of them.
Soz mate... been AWOL..... bought it on ebay...off a guy in Horncastle who'd built it. Yeah, beautiful.... there have been 2 more for sale around here since I crashed it, I did bid on them but only tentatively... Got new projects at the moment, having sold a load of 'planes off I've got an 1800mm Catalina to build now..... fabulous!... hopefully she won't turn out to be as troublesome as the Lancaster!

Hi Charlie... yeah, I've seen that one! TBH.... that Lanc of mine was so much setting up and p-ing about and what with living nearly 40 miles from the nearest decent flying site... Swinderby, soon to be ripped up... would leave no where to fly a new one... Anyway, the Cat has turned up. Wow! what a beauty!... there's quite a few places to fly it around here besides my spot just 5 miles away... ^-^ I shall start a new thread when I can find the piigin' camera!
